Questions from a beginner

Hey everybody, I hope some of you are still visiting this forum.
I just started the game in hope of an old school rpg experience and I really like it so far.
What I dislike is that none of the mechanics are explained anywhere and since there isnt a manual I cant read it up^^
So here are some questions I have:
- Is there a carrying limit?
- What are the bars under the skills for (e.g. under swordskill I have a blue bar which is almost full, how do I fill the bars of the others)?
- Do I need lockpick and break lock both or can I choose one?
- Are there any mods for this game?

-There is a carrying limit. How many spaces in the inventory panel is as much as you get.
-Leveling Bar. Shows the skill progress to the next level.
-Either one. Don't use both as it's a waste of points.
-I doubt it.

How do I progress in the bars? The only bars filling are the axe one (because thats the weapon I use), the lockpicking one and the parrying one. How do I progress the others (e.g. athletics)?
And is there a pause-mode in which enemies dont spawn and the game freezes? I cant even take a piss, because when hitting "Esc" for pause, the game still runs in the background.

The skills that don't automatically advance need you to put your points in them that you earn from killing monsters and upon gaining the next level.

I played a LOT of this when it was running on wind XP, the ONLY mod i know of was a cheat or trainer generator & once it F'd up i stoped playing the game cause my game save was corrupt.
I really would like to see the guy who made the cheat gen do a new 1 for win 7-10.
1 of the problems with that cheat/trainer gen was it would let you bump up your weapons, Xp, hp...etc but it also had a teleport which some times made you get stuck in a wall cause of wrong location.
Any how, i hope you're enjoying the game.

I do enjoy the game.
Even without cheating I already feel so overpowered, because due to the random spawning of enemies, I am getting XP a LOT. I turned the random spawning down to the minimum, so I dont get overpowered so easily.

I don't remember if the original or CE had the random spawning feature, i dodn't think i used it back then but it is really good for XP like you said

wow, leveling up in the game using the "random spawn" feature Really helps, THX Nordic, i think you added that feature & it surely helps progression !!!
As you said earlier hinti21, i may need to tone it down a bit since i am leveling up pretty fast.
EVEN being OP i find the game fun but they doooooo spawn quickly.
Really enjoying the game again, NOOOO need for trtainers of cheats, game is running very well with this spawn feature !!!

I found this feature to bring the game out of balance and make it loose a little immersion. I like when encounters are hand-planted (e.g. I find a big troll guarding a powerful weapon), but not when annoying enemies keep spawning every three steps.

Skills can level up either by spending points into them, or in the case of weapon or magic skills they can level up just by using them. Points are gained upon leveling, or upon gaining enough expierence to obtain the point ( i dont know how much is needed)
