Why wont multiplayer work?

I've attempted to play with my friend. Our games kept going out of sync so we left the game for a while to wait for updates to hopefully improve this, but attempting again with same friend and we can't even connect now.
Checked port and all of that stuff but game will crash if even attempting to host (we don't run potatoes)

Hi I haven't tried multiplayer with this. Back in 'the day' there were a lot of people playing the game and posting on Gamebanshee. I don't know about computers in terms of how to network link and how to conceptualize tinkering with the computer to work. I haven't heard of somewhere else where people play Dungeon Lords but there was more interest in this game in the past.

just listing the obvious
- make sure your firewall aint blocking
- make sure your anti virus aint blocking
- you may want to run compatibility mode on win8 and higher
- you may want to doublecheck direct play is enabled on win8 and higher
- port forwarding for 2606 and if using steam lobby 27015
if stuff still aint working you are doomed
