KALPA: Cosmic Symphony

KALPA: Cosmic Symphony

A few questions before I get it
1. As a rhythm gamer, who played DJMax Respect V, Ez2On R Reboot and others, how's this one? Have seen some gameplays, but I am not still fully convinced (maybe it's just me, though).

2. I know there's a requirement for an internet connection in HW specs, but is it a MUST to play (a.k.a. the game's not playable offline)?

Thank you

It has a story mode which is alright, but I can't say it adds a whole lot imo
Pretty much the same type of gameplay, other than that you can tilt your panel in Kalpa. It's easier for the eyes but if you're used to other rhythm games which is more vertical drops of notes, it takes a little bit to adjust. The panel tilt makes it about 60 degrees rather than your normal 90. Otherwise, it's another variety of songs from other rhythm games lol
They've been adding songs for free though, with each story update. Newest update got some good tracks so that was nice. Not sure if they'll add more songs as paid DLC later on or not, so far the base game is getting updated for free.

as for 2, I would assume you could do it offline. Haven't tried it yet

Thank you for the info. I ended up getting it. The songlist is quite nice. I find the timing more lenient, compared to other VSRGs. But of course, that's where Lunatic steps in. :Shii: The tilted playfield reminds me of MUSYNX.

To be fair, I don't really consider the "Story mode". My argument would be that I didn't come here to sit through visual novels (feel free to call me an ignorant). On the other hand, I have to unlock the rest of the songs somehow. :Only_for_you_NOTE:

You're welcome! It does have a relatively more generous judgment system vs the ones like DJMAX. Though the total point system is very unforgiving if you make mistakes. If it's not "perfect" then your point accumulation plummets. DJMAX at least, even with 1 break or non-perfect hits you can get S or As pretty easily. Kalpa's more snowball-ish in score gains. Bad start, likely bad score.

I agree with the storymode, not really a visual novel person and well I just kind of tried it out for the heck of it anyway. Songs and gameplay are most important
for me the only reason to play kalpa over other mania type of rhythm game is cause there is the possibility to put the note like guitar hero coming from front of you. For me I prefer that over the usual vertical mania. (I played guitar hero and frets on fire when i was kid, thats is the reason i prefer it)

I want to know if the game has persistent Internet connection requirement too, but based on other threads talking about maintenance and disconnection, it seems like it has. Not surprised since it's yet another Korean rhythm game.
As someone who loves DJMAX and has played the mobile version of this game, it's ok. I find the judgement more strict (not including the intentionally strict mode you can turn on). The higher end chart are just fuster clucks with no good flow. I play at 7700 DJ Score on DJMAX and got to 18 Astral rating on this game. The Cosmos (highest difficulty) charts just never feel good. The highway that comes towards you just makes it unnecessarily difficult to play a lot of sections. Even after all of this said, the music is pretty good and the atmosphere of the game as a whole makes me want to see it improve more and more.
