Industry Giant 2
Is this like Capitalism 2?
I loved the game Capitalism 2 once upon a time, long long ago and this game looks similar. Was / is this a similar game?

Not really. Cap 2 was about pure business simulation rather than transport and industry in general.
I find this more fun than Cap2 as you're in charge of managing the whole industry cycle, Production > Transport > Sale
Capilitism 2 is one of my favoraites, this game is in the same category of games but they are very different. If you like capitalism 2 then I would be suprised, if you dislike this game.
i played both as a kid, i wouldnt say this is alot like cap2 but they work together well, diffrent itches. Giant2 has fairly large maps, distance plays into the production cycle, your worried about transporting materials from fields to factories then to citys, worried about the citys growth, new products phaseing out your old ones. AI can gum up the streets with alot of trucks, road networks break down late game.
It's better than Capitalism 2
Hmm … Capitalism 2 is one of my all-time favourites … it is a much richer and deeper business simulation than this game.

It also got a major rework to work with modern hardware in the form Capitalism Lab, plus more products and mod support.

You can check it out here: http://www.capitalismlab.com/
Played a lot of capitalism Lab. Would like a true modern upgrade for the game. They never made a Cap 3. They really should.

Yes I wish they would but I fear they will not.

I am more fearful of the possible outcome for an attempt at a third.
its amazing how the whole tycoon genre just seemed to die, i think just like cities skylines if a company did a business/transport simulator right there would be a huge market for it..

unfortunately, every crap game in the mid 90-s to 2000's had tycoon at the end of the name and killed the genre i suppose.

The genre is making a slow return.

We've got games like Factorio, Big Pharma, (Theme) Parkitect and such making their way towards release, as well as established series that haven't died yet. Tropico 5 anyone?
Tropico 5 suck, it's boring like hell and so repetitive,

I could say the same for literally any tycoon or building game in existence.
