Does petting island animals do anything?

Does petting the bunnies, owls, etc. Do anything like increase rewards or hearts? Also wondering the same about farm animals.

Yes to farm animals, for the wild ones i think it allows them to produce seeds for you the next day. Just from observation.

Manual says animals with higher friendship produce more products, (but this is for livestock, not the wild ones).

You should get seeds when you pet the rescued animals on their islands, once a day.

I am only getting seeds from the fifth animal. I have 5 bunnies, 3 pigs and one ferret. the only animal that will sometimes give me seeds is the tan bunny - my fifth.

Working on opening pigs, will let you know.

Am playing on SteamDeck if it matters.

I have the same problem. I started a new savefile and since then I don't get any seeds from the wild animals. On the save before I got a lot, now I get nothing..

I just uninstalled the game and started a new game. Now i get seeds from wild animals again. Maybe it was a bug, cause I still had the wonderletters from the old saves in my letterbox.

I stopped petting the wild animals at still got seeds from them every day.
Maybe it was a bug? Or do you need to pet them just once to "trigger" the seed generation?

Thyey are supposed to give seeds. note the word supposed there. on the night from the 20th to the 21st of march steam achievements became available. The safe file i had before that: seeds every day as long as I pet them. now? none. nada. and I have more animals now than I did on my other safe file. sadly i don't have that file anymore or I would check but since I can't thats a dead end.

I would suggest rapporting it to the devs (i tried but my antivirus insists the form is unsafe and to contact my system manager if i believe that message to be in error. I *am* the system manager but I can't convince it to let me through or I would've send a ticket in myself.)

Though it seems like uninstalling and re-installing it fixed it for some players. So I might try that as well.
