Please provide your computer hardware information (CPU, GPU, RAM, drive, etc.) and the log file for troubleshooting. The log file can be found here: %LocalAppData%\Low\SnowGBL\TheWifeNextDoor\Player.log.
We will also send you save files for testing.
Paste the SAV files into this following folder: Steam\steamapps\common\The Wife Next Door\TheWifeNextDoor_Data\SaveData and replace the old ones. After that, select "Load Game" in the menu and see if you can play normally with the save files we provided.

Thank you for the save, loading it worked, however, the moment I moved out of the door, and was confronted with the dialog/narrator bubble again, I got stuck again :-/
Thanks for letting us know about the issue you're experiencing. Could you please try verifying the integrity of the game files? Here’s how to do it:
1.Go to your Library page.
2.Click Manage (the gear icon in the top-right corner).
3.Select Properties.
4.Navigate to the Installed Files tab.
5.Click Verify Integrity of Game Files.
If the issue persists and the game still gets stuck when the dialog appears, please send us the log file again. It’ll help us investigate further.
