Act of War: Direct Action

Act of War: Direct Action

Running the game on Windows 10
I found a solution to the problem with starting the game. (I apologize in advance for my English)

First you need to download the dgvoodoo 2 program http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2.html
After downloading, open the archive, transfer 2 files (dgVoodooCpl.exe and dgVoodoo.conf) to the game folder, in the same archive, move along the path MC -> X86 and copy all files to the game folder.
Open the program, click on the GLIDE tab, select memory size 2048 kb.
You can play)

Major Issue Nov 19, 2020 @ 9:35am
Now the game launches but I can't see cursor. Only for split second when I click on a button in menu. Any fix for that?
I have disc version with patch 1.06.3 and widescreen patch, now everything seems to work except the cursor.

EDIT: OK I've found a fix! Copied this over the dgvoodoo d3d9.dll and it works with visible cursor!

I added the following to my post and updating yours as well in case you want the current information...

AP3H solution. It works but I am combining instructions to make all one step and a little more clear.

http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2/ is the current link you want. Program shortcuts on the page are direct access links meaning click one and it opens the download without changing the page.

I grabbed the dgVoodoo v2.72 - for regular usage (released: 2020.12.16)

First, download, open the file, extract it somewhere it will stay such as simply in its own folder C:\dgVoodoo2_72

Open the folder, COPY the dgVoodooCpl.exe and dgVoodoo.conf files by highlighting, right clicking, select copy

Go to your Main AOW folder in Steam where the exe file is located and paste both.

Go back to your dgVoodoo2_72 folder, open the MS folder, x86 folder, and copy all the files except the D3D9.dll file

Go to your main AOW folder, paste in these files. Look in this folder and make sure you have a d3d9.dll file. If you do not, you can get a copy from your Windows\system32 folder, copy and add it to your AOW folder. (NOTE: If you use the one in the dgVoodoo2_72\MS\x86 folder you will not have a visible mouse cursor.)

Go back to your dgVoodoo2_72 folder, run the dgVoodooCpl.exe, click on the GLIDE tab, set all memory references to 2M, click apply, click close, go back to your AOW folder, click the aow.exe and play,

THIS IS NOT MY WORK other than to make the directions fit the current version with the current link. I am running Windows 10 Pro X64 with an AMD 590 8GB card, 32 GB ram, and an 8350 AMD CPU.

NOTE #2, I was already running the graphics modded exe for the GOG version from moddb and already used CFF Explorer to enable more than 2GB of Ram which recently stopped working causing the hard drive where steam is installed to disconnect itself upon loading AOW and would not come back without rebooting.

I am running directly from the exe file and STEAM does not see me playing. As I have time, snow storm again in a few days, I will work on reassociating with STEAM for online play. If you have not changed the exe file, you may already be logged on playing on Steam, but I have not gone back and tested that yet.
