I'm having an issue with the self-checkouts. I left 2 manned checkouts and 12 self-checkouts, but even with more than half of the self-checkouts available, customers were still avoiding them, saying there were no open checkouts.
Normally, I have between 2 and 5 people running away without pay, but on the day when i put all the self-checkouts, there were over 30. At no point were all the self-checkouts occupied, and in fact, less than half were being used at any given time.

I have a similar set-up/ issue. Its really annoying that my 30ish self checkouts are useless

The developer mentioned that self-checkout is intended for customers who aren’t buying too much. Most customers, especially those purchasing a lot, prefer the manned checkout.

So, it's not really advisable to rely solely on self-checkout right now. The developer might improve it in the future, but likely not by much, as they don’t want self-checkouts to be overpowered, in their words.
