let TVs play video files?

like mp4s from a folder while waiting for the twitch youtube thing to go through

Not a bad idea, wanted to add some placeholders to the TV this week while the other functionality arrives, will check how feasible it is (file permissions and such)

Given the way people act in the game, I can only imagine what videos will be played if it's not restricted to Youtube, Twitch, etc.

In my opinion, basing on what I've read from the forums, it may be wise to focus more on a permission system first before letting players stream their own files or something. It's not the end-all solution, but it would definitely help for those that wish to host their games for others.

At least on the bright side, only those who own the DLC can do anything with the TV (once implemented) anyway.

Video files and pictures on the TV screen will be a great addition to the game, especially if you can install them from the game (after all, there is Internet access via a gaming PC)

In the next patch players will be able to choose between some default videos, set a local video or internet url or hooking the browser directly. TVs won't be shared for now for the following reasons:
- Streaming a video to clients could be very performance intensive both in cpu and network.
- Heavy potential trolling even with permissions.
- Related to previous, we would probably have to modify the game's rating

There is no folder with that name on my PC, do I need to create one? By default in Windows it is C:\Users\ag3nt\Videos

would it be possible to instead of streaming the video its self to the player, (assuming the TV is set to browser or to a URL and not a local file) make it send the URL to the players instead, surly that should solve the issue with resource usage.

Can you see the same videos on the TV with other person? (when you play with another person). I play with my boyfriend and he cannot see the vids I'm putting from YouTube on the TV and I cannot see his videos. Can we see the same videos?

You can use websites like Watchtogether for now to circumvent this. Want to squeeze in the agenda YT video sync the early weeks of this month.

Will it ever be possible to download simple MP4 files for the TV to the games folder?
or will it be necessary to do this every time with links to download videos?
Personally, this is very inconvenient for me...
Since most people can't watch what others see, there won't be any problems with trolling.
