Yep. I paid double the Steam price about a year ago. Worth it then and worth it now.
The game starts off slow. You own one slope of about thirty on the mountain. You have to keep it clean, keep the snow plowed and packed, and ensure skiers have a good time. At each end of the slope, you can add concessions and other money-making stalls.
There are transport and first-aid missions to help you earn quick cash. You have to buy a snowmobile but the challenges are fun and somewhat challenging -- one might involve you racing to the top of the mountain then having to haul an injured skier all the way down to the aid station at the base of the mountain.
As you make more money and buy more slopes, you can add hotels, parking lots, and other features.
There is a decent amount of sales data to help you adjust ticket prices either up or down.
The graphics are pretty average. Don't go into this game expecting to see the details on snowflakes and you won't be disappointed.
Some other interesting tidbits:
1) There are 100 traveling gnomes scattered through the game. Find them all and you win something. No spoilers.
2) You can throw snowballs by right-clicking (I think-- this is from memory)
3) There are in-game achievements. Throwing snowballs at so many icicles is one of them.
4) You can drive a cable-car (sorta) and rack up easy money.
Hope this helps.
Very simple mechanics, not heavy on the micro managing side of things.
Average graphics.
Its a shame you can't actually ski tho.
That's a nice summary. It isn't a bad game and all of the parts work. It's just a bit dated.
Most people would probably get $9 worth of entertainment out of it.
The game supports mods but I haven't tried any.
For me i like simple sim games, and i also like to get my £1 an hour ratio out of any game these days.
If you bothered to read, you would find out, you lazy slag.
Thanks for posting this link. I'm interested in the game, but I wasn't sure about buying it as I've already got quite a few broken/uninteresting games sitting in my library. :-)
Make sure you demo the snow cannons too!
