OpenXR Setup Guide
Setting up OpenXR correctly is important to make sure VR games run smoothly and without problems.

If OpenXR isn’t set up right, your controllers might not track, the game could behave strangely, or it might not start in VR mode at all.

This guide will show you how to set up OpenXR for your VR device.

How to Set Up OpenXR

Use the Right VR Runtime:
  • For Meta/Oculus headsets, use the Meta Quest Link app.
  • For other headsets, use SteamVR.
Set Active OpenXR Runtime:
Make sure your VR runtime is set as the active OpenXR runtime.
SteamVR Users:
  1. Open SteamVR settings.
  2. Go to OpenXR > Set SteamVR as OpenXR Runtime.
  3. Restart SteamVR.
Meta Quest Link Users:
  1. Open Meta Quest Link settings.
  2. Go to General > Set Meta Quest Link as OpenXR Runtime.
  3. Restart Meta Quest Link.

Important Notes
  • Default Settings: Always use default settings in your VR runtime. Avoid using VR toolkits or modifying runtime settings, as these can negatively impact physics and gameplay.
  • Why OpenXR Matters: When OpenXR isn’t configured properly, common issues include:
    • Controllers failing to track.
    • The game not launching in VR mode.
    • Physics behaving incorrectly.

By following this guide, your OpenXR setup should now be ready for smooth VR gaming.

Don't know if you can help, I'm green as grass when it comes to VR. when I go to Go to General > Set Meta Quest Link as OpenXR Runtime, there s nothing to, the option part is greyed out and not selectable?
When i play Alien rogue incursion it tells me to change this and I cant, so I cant access the menu once in the game which is very annoying, didnt have any issues with HL: Alyx or Metro
