Questions about Recruitment Agency Truck Drivers
Hi, as you probably know, the recruitment agency in ATS is the place where the player can hire AI truck drivers to work with the player and deliver cargo.

Provided that the player has bought a truck for the recruitment agency truck driver, the AI truck driver will drive the truck the player has assigned the AI driver to drive.

The AI truck driver will continue driving the truck until the permanent wear on the truck he/she is driving reaches 30%, at which point, they will stop driving it. The AI truck driver will only resume driving when the player does a total restoration on that truck.

However, if three days pass in the game, and the player does not restore the AI driver's truck, he/she will send the player an in-game e-mail, requesting the player do a total restoration.

But if the player ignores him/her for another two in-game days, the AI truck driver will leave the player's trucking company.

All this leads to the following question:

"If an AI truck driver leaves the player's trucking company due to his/her total restoration requests being ignored for several days, can the player rehire that truck driver from the recruitment agency later on?"

By the way, player-owned trailers can be used by AI truck drivers as they wish, unless the player has set the trailer to "private", where only the player can use that trailer.

The above sentence leads to the following question:

"If an AI truck driver uses a player-owned trailer, will he/she make the player earn more in-game cash as opposed to the AI truck driver using a trailer the player does not own?"

I would appreciate it if someone could address my queries.

The new damage system for the trucks is too new for anyone to give you an experienced answer, but assuming that it is the same today as it has been for the last few years, then there is a maximum number of drivers and none of these drivers can work for other companies, then they should be able to be employed from an employment agency.

Another option to an expensive restoration would be to buy either a new or used truck and sell or trade in the old model.

Trailers can earn more money on individual AI transport jobs, however the amount is very small and there are other issues with allowing AI drivers access to your trailers, they may not be able to find a return load as often leading to a loss of work and therefor a reduced amount of overall earnings and profit. Many players find that it can make them also stop working.

Best set the trailers to private use for you unless you don't care about money or some driver not being as profitable.

Thanks for your answers.

Any driver returned to the pool can be re-hired later.

As per introduction of the new damage system, the hired drivers will automatically repair/restore their vehicles whenever wear and tear gets to a certain level. This is mostly notable when giving hired hands a truck from the used dealership to drive. First thing they do is get it fixed for a hefty sum of money. So no need for the player to restore the vehicle manually.

Also, trailers profitability is a bit of a two-edged sword. At times a hired hand with a company owned trailer (i.e. a trailer you purchased) may actually increase revenue rather than getting a lower payout. However, there is the usual maintenance and such going on for trailers also. So it's not necessarily higher or lower per se compared to market trailers.

@BBS Bootleg, this is completely false. It was true initially but was patched fairly quickly. Now they will email you if the truck needs work.
They do continue to perform minor maintenance on the truck.

I've never let a driver go, so I'm curious; do they retain all the stats they earned while driving for you when they go back to the employment pool?

I think so, but it's been a long time since I did it, so I can't be sure.

Experimentation (caveat: in ETS2) suggests that fired drivers return to the driver pool over the following few in game days (perhaps as they complete the jobs they are currently active on, investigations underway but incomplete?) and those pool drivers start to be offered in the recruitment agencies after 24 hours or so. More to follow once I've figured out whatever it is that happens to a fired drivers driver_ai unit state attribute and had a further dig.

Funny how I didn't get 15 emails then from my workers and they just went ahead and got vehicles fixed without my interference. Or is what I see on my own screen "completely false" as well?

That happened since the issue was "fixed"? Major restore the truck repairs?
