Are the East Coast Maps in Development?
Does anyone know if the east coast maps are under development?

No, they are not.

SCS only has 4 mapping teams for ATS. Those teams are:

1: California Rework - mostly new hires
2: Kansas
3. Nebraska
4: Probably already working on an unannounced map expansion
They could be.
I doubt it though.
They are going West to East, 2 states per year.
It really depends on how many people they have.
It would be nice to have EC on ATS but it will probably be a while

South or North Dakota I guess...

The pattern has been north to south. Now they are working south to north. Texas (released) Oklahoma (released), Kansas (confirmed), Nebraska (hinted of) and probably south and north Dakota after that.
My guess is that they go from North to south after that. The reason is that when the map looked like a hockey stick earlier no one liked it (L shape). I dont think they want to go back that route.
For the rest - Anyones guess is as good as anyones...

Edit: SCS stated from the start that the players are voting with their (our) wallets. As long as the DLC sale is fine they will continue to make new content for the game.
Edit 2: And all new trucks and rework of the early content is totally free of charge.

LOL, east coast of California maybe....
Under development, most likely no, as already answer.

But if the real intention of this thread is asking if they'll ever do it, most likely yes.
Nebraska is more than just "hinted about" ... LOL
I'm hoping we see more than 2 states per year as we go forward.
Although I'm expecting Kansas around Thanksgiving hopefully

No, pattern had been south to north, west to east so far. it's starting on california, they start southwest to northeast pattern from what I noticed that.
Some of the Ol Timers will tell you there was an "L" shape for awhile that drove everyone nuts I'm guessing Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, New Mexico.
I believe THAT started the south to north as they moved east
Oh, yes, it's drive me nut when there was time of "L" but I think it's all good now, it's should be smoothly linked here and there now.

Most likely we will see more than one state per DLC as we continue to move east as the Central and East states start to get smaller than the Plains and West Coast States. I believe they also once indicated that parts of Canada and Mexico are not off the table at some point in the future. It's possible that Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi can be combined into one DLC.

They are obviously working West to East, so the actual East Coast will be the last added to the game. Probably looking at another 5 years at least before we get to the Eastern Seaboard with Florida leading the way.

Got to make it through Dakotas, Minny, Missouri, iowa, and Wisconsin before that happens

I can see them taking care of the great north part of the map first before working down towards Arkansas and the others it definitely gets much smaller there, but more dense population/cities too so who knows.

I could see Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia included together though would be nice.
We need Atlanta so we can recreate Smokey and the bandit properly, we have Texarkana and then once someone makes a transam mod and the devs add Georgia we can make a full. Smokey recreation.

Meanwhile, get the Coast to Coast map mod if you (not "we") so badly ned to recreate the movie. Atlanta is included there. I think the entire nivie was recorded in Atlanta.
