As these are loads generated by SCS computers and are speed limited they added the city limiter too.
I personally don't see anything wrong with that because the load completion time is in real hours not game time.
You don't have to use WoT jobs for the Steam achievements and the WoT Event doesn't have any cargo requirements. ;)
As for it being a free service, I -might- buy that if it were an actual free service being offered by a third party. But it's not; It's run by SCS. And I appreciate they don't technically have to, but, at the end of the day, All the DLC we buy funds WoT too, So it's not exactly 'free'.
I absolutely see the bandwidth as an acceptable reason for not showing ALL jobs from where you are; But you should still be able to click a city and say "I want to see jobs from this city instead of the city I'm at"
That said, Unless they dramatically bloated the files involved somehow, the transfer to list every external contract from every single city should be like 1-5 megabytes tops; Text is smol when it comes to file sizes. That's almost literally nothing; And if you were smart about it, you'd have the game do a check against the server's masterlist for differences from the existing copy instead of transferring the whole thing again, which would make updating your copy be more like 5-25kb instead.
My problem with it isn't the time to complete the jobs; real time is cool and all. My problem is that it's completely user unfriendly. You either do the jobs where you are or you have to TP from city to city wasting actual time and ingame money (which admittedly, the latter becomes less relevant the further you are) to check for a job you want to do.
IMO it's a bit silly to not just allow the user to filter by city and get that city's doable jobs in light of the fact that you can TP to the city anyway- The only thing this limit serves to accomplish as far as I can tell is to waste player time and generate player frustration, because you can do the same thing with five times as many steps and taking five times as long, when it could be so much more streamlined and convenient for the user.
Wouldn't it be easier to just use the sleep/rest function to bump time ahead than jumping back & forth?
For external contracts, in-game time is irrelevant. They are refreshed periodically based on real time. Warping back and forth would change nothing as well.
And if you drive/teleport there before taking it it could be that the Job got flushed from the Server as someone else might have took it.
Sometimes I would like to have a Refresh button for the other job markets as well.
They are limited this way to prevent server issues.
