Resetting your money
I'm just wondering if anybody knows how to reset your money by going into the game files and changing the numbers around to give yourself a lower bank balance.or if there is a money mod that will allow you to change the amount of money in your bank account.

You can use a profile save editor or decrypting tool to read the file in plain text.

There is also the ability to simply change how the profile is saved by changing g_save_format to 2, which will drastically increase load times. You'll be able to find your money balance in the profile data now.

Never heard of people wanting to cheat LESS money but cheat engine would be the easiest way.

it does happen sometimes people ask here how to get rid of that huge amount of money with nothing to spend them on. Too much money and the game gets boring.

Editing the number in the save file is one way. Cheat Engine is another way (which probably also is editing the number in the same file).

In the workshop there are even "hard economy" mods to decrease the income and/or increase the costs... Makes the gameplay last longer.

Technically you could also set the g_income_factor via the console to 0.1, and then make an economy reset to flush the old contracts out and get the new ones in. Since this change affects both you and your hired drivers you will not make much money at all but lose money since the new contracts now only pay 10% of the original value. So a contract that before payed $50/mi is now only paying $5/mi.

I would also recommend the Hard Economy mod, or use the console like Wolfgang mentioned in his post above. Another in-game option is to simply keep committing traffic violations on a regular basis (e.g. speeding violations) until it drags your balance sheet into the red, LOL. That's how I do it when the cash becomes a bit too much.

A word of caution though: I would stay away from dubious trainers and cheat engines as it can easily lead to a permanent vac ban. Far too many people have experimented around with seemingly 'harmless singleplayer' codes and forget to get rid of them before they went on to play some multiplayer game and got their accounts banned. Valve knows no distinction between malicious cheaters and casuals who just wanted to try out some random cheat tool.

I have used Cheat Engine on my ETS2 and ATS test profiles for years. Changing things like money in these games do not give you a VAC ban. I do agree you should be careful what games you use it on. Any game involving serious MP where it's use could give you a competitive advantage (not the case in ATS) it should be avoided like the plague... don't even have it running in those cases (regardless if injected or not). For me, it is the quickest way to achieve what I need, I do agree that if people know other ways (mods, direct save editing, etc) they should go for that if they never worked with CE.

the problem with economy mods is that updates will frequently break them and you have to wait for the mod to be updated (and they might not be at all). they can be very good mods but now i prefer to just change the income factor in the console as mentioned previously. no more waiting for updates. setting it to 0.2 works well for me reducing the job income to 20% of the default

Google for 'TS SE Tool' and you will find what you're after :) Its a savefile editor and will allow you to change all sorts of things from your save, including how much money you have.
