Game Won't Launch
Is anyone else having an issue with the game starting up, the screen going black, but then going to desktop? It was working a couple of hours ago, and then there was an update and it keeps crashing. I tried reinstalling, same thing keeps happening. Any suggestions would be great.

my game also don't work. It will load to the point where I choose the job, and right after the loading screen disappears and I see the inside of the truck cabin it will just turn off and go back to the desktop.

To start I would verify local file integrity. Right click ATS in your Steam Library >> Properties >> Installed Files >> Verify Integrity.

Be sure your graphics card drivers are up to date. If all else fails:

Copy and paste your game.log.txt file(do not copy the game.crash file) to pastebin.com and provide the link here in a reply. This must be from right after a freeze/crash.

If too big for one paste, make multiples.

Log is located at Documents/American Truck Simulator for a default install. If pastebin is not available in your country please use http://rentry.co and post the link to it. The page works like pastebin.

Please do not paste walls of text in messages/replies that contain the log info.

Turns out the Beta was at fault. I rolled back to the regular version of the game and it's working great now.

As for the beta: Please read the announcement, specifically the very first paragraph.

Any chance that you guys are running in 4k? ???? x 2160?

If this is yes then the issue is now known. Something with 4k is causing the game to crash.

Per Sudovak on the ATS Bug Threads:
"Thank you guys very much, I reproduced the bug now, I will make a report in a moment"

You can change your resolution values in the config.cfg file until this is patched.

To run 1440 for example:
uset r_mode_height "1440"
uset r_mode_width "2560"

If running in 4k, there are 2 possible workarounds until SCS can fix it:

1. Add -nointro to your launch options In steam
2. Edit your config file to launch in lower resolution
It seems that you may then be able to play in 4k for the session, but will likely need to use this manual fix again for the next session.

uset r_mode_height "2160"
uset r_mode_width "3840"

I have the same. Not in the beta, verified files, reinstalled... still can't start it. Exactly as how OP described. Black screen then back to desktop

See above about my post or Madkine's with the workarounds.

I should have mentioned that I'm a girl and I don't have any idea how to do the steps any of you are describing. After opening the game again I was able to change the resolution to lower one. Also after opening the game the game itself showed me a window saying that it detects some problems and asking me to chose which saved point it should load. I have chosen one from January and now it works.

What I remember before the game started crashing it was showing me a pop up about new items added to the inventory. I don't know what exactly it was, if it was something randomly added to game or after doing some achievement because I skipped this fast, but now I'm asking myself it this was what crashed my game. I never used mods and I even reinstalled my game and it was crashing all this time. I don't ven know how to find crash.log as it seems that times changed and I can't even find a separate folder for this game on my computer. It's rather that some files are all linked to steam folders.

In my case it was just the nvidia driver. Updated it and worked perfectly after that
