Bates Motel
Can anyone tell me when the Bates Motel disappeared from the map? I see a thread from someone finding it in 2020 but just been trying to visit it again and the road is now a dual carriageway with no abandoned rest stop

With the California rework of that area I'd say. It was not in the correct place anyway, beause it originally is located in the Universal studios in Hollywood. So I'd suggest, knowing SCS humour for more than a decade now, to look for it in Los Angeles, possibly in a hidden road. Have not yet attempted myself though

I mean, the movie was set more or less outside of Bakersfield, so it's not wrong to place the house in the movie's location rather than on a Hollywood set. Wouldn't you want to see the diner in Seinfeld in New York City instead of Los Angeles?

if you use "more cities-california v 1.4" from Mygodness on truckymods then the motel is still just outside bakersfield on the stretch of road with the tumbleweed

It is in the wrong site according to the reality out there the game is set in. The answer was not about preferences but why it is not anymore where, in terms of realism, it did never belong. Neutrally and unbiased where it might belong emotionally.

That's nice, have it your way, just don't pretend you're being neutral and unbiased when what you have is an opinion not shared by everyone.

It was never meant to be realistic. It was just SCS having a little fun.

Also yes, it went away with the California rework (tumbleweeds and all). If they moved it elsewhere, I don't know where yet.

OP asked why it was gone. I answered it might be gone because it is not standing there in reality and SCS might have removed it therefore. Knowing them for years with the possibility they might have moved it where it is located in reality. Where did I post "opinion" at all?

Well I have that mod and the Bates Motel isn't there. Been up and down CA 58 a few times, no sign of it.
Guessing the only way to see it now is to downgrade the game to 1.52? I think it was in the area of the final part of the Cali Rework project.

Our only hope of seeing it in 1.53, 1.54 or beyond is if some kind person adds it back in a mod.

This really blows as the easter eggs were a big part of what makes ATS stand out from ETS2, and I have some friends who just started to play ATS (I have played since launch in 2016), so they will never get to see the Bates Motel.

People also don't get to see the "All your base are belong to us" easter egg that was in LV before its rework.
Oh well.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah it blows. Really need SCS to add back the Easter Eggs somewhere else or hope someone mods them back in.

It used to be here until 1.53, if you want to see it now you'll need to downgrade the game to 1.52

Dang! I never even knew the Bates motel was in the game in the first place. I wish I had. I would've stopped there for a shower.

I missed that one as well ""SAVE OUR ATS EASTER EGGS"
I get it isn't 100% realistic but it was a fun touch especially driving past it at night and it was there for so long. +1 for putting it back in, at the end of a hidden road.
