International 9900i sweet spot
I like this truck but seems the Fuel mileage seems to be the worst of all the trucks so far I swear i can just watch the fuel gauge like there's a hole in the tank. Engine sounds great while driving it (which is the only reason im driving it) but is the sweet spot on this truck about 55 mph? cause anything more than that seems to make excessive noise vibration leading me to think im over working it?

Same here on the loud. but when speed limit is 80 i dont think this truck will do 80 with any setup without coming apart with the high RPM it pulls. I mean the motor sounds like a beast but at 65 mph sounds like it needs about 5 more gears or so. what speed are you spose to drive this thing at while flat cruising cause im not sure if i should be high rpm or lower rpm?

I really enjoy using the 9900i and it really depends on how you spec it out

Run the small engine with a 10 speed and you'll top out at 65 mph at 1600rpm.... Spec the 600 horse with the 18 speed and you'll do your 80mph all day long at 1600rpm

What you haul matters quite a bit as well.... Pull the 100k transformer and you might be lucky to break 4mpg

I spec mine with the 600/18 with 300g tanks, use a hard economy mod and even with the lower revenue (about $2.75for heavy haul) I don't concern myself a great deal with fuel economy..... Love the truck, the way it sounds and in my case the way the interior view sets up on 3 monitors

It depends mostly on the gearbox how the truck behaves at higher speeds.
The "standard delivery" bar in the workshop is an indicator for higher speed at lower rpm.
(-> fuel saving)

So if you want to go 80 you need a gearbox that supports that speed.
You can even calculate it if you want. I don't do that, I use the bars in the workshop and usually end up at about the same 12 or 13 speed gearbox. But most times I drive 65 max (WOT).

If you ony can go 55 at a reasonable rpm, that gearbox is probably more for the heavy loads.
