HORI Truck Control System worth $600?
I want to upgrade my G29, just because the wheel is more like a Kart wheel,
I love the pedals and I use a TH8S snifter what work well for me.
MOZA is out of my budget.
Based on reviews the MOZA snifter has a bad review on Amazon, for the triple of the price of Logitech snifter, I don't expecting any, so I don't trust in reviews much, but I love to know from people who ever bought this HORI Truck Control System, your honest opinion about it.
Thank you in advance!

No, I don't believe so. $600 for all plastic gear driven is absurd. Plus Hori quality control sucks. There are tons of issues, major negative feedback too with this setup from the day of release and it's still happening.

A much better deal is the Moza Trucking Bundle at $549. $50 less, direct drive, and way better quality.

I have the R5 base, TSW wheel, pedals and have not had a single problem.

Thanks!
I received it a week ago, and not it's not worth 600 Dollars, closer to the 400 or less range, don't get me wrong though, nothing to complain about it so far, maybe I was lucky, time will tell.

I maybe agree about quality and plastic gears, but Moza bundle doesn t have Multi-function Stalks (+200$), shifter (+150$ and moza shifter is awful comparing to hori). Only ~good thing you get - steering wheel itself, but it also worse than hori in terms of buttons.

My point is - moza truck bundle is absolutely useless, because it has no advantages compared to usual r5 bundle. Well, maybe illumination :lunar2019laughingpig:

Your opinion and you're entitled to that but the Multi Function stalks and shifter are not needed to play the game either. Hori pedals are absolute junk too.

There are not a lot of reviews of the HGP shifter on Amazon either. Of the two listings there are a total of 34 reviews and 3 are 1 star. That does not make the shifter junk. No company is flawless. Defects do slip through and that is why there is a warranty. I don't even think Hori's warranty is all that great either. Sure they will send you a new unit only for the same problems to keep occurring over and over and over.

I don't care about needing to have every single key button assigned to the wheel or shifter like Hori at the urging of SCS. The Hori shifter is modeled after a European shifter and not American. That is a huge down vote in my eyes.

I still do not recommend Hori anything. Their track record of inferior products is well known. There are a lot posts here about the problems users are experiencing. That is just a small percentage of the negativity surrounding this bundle.

I would go and say that they modeled it after japanese shifters, as those most likely are more like non US ones and more common in most places in the world.

I can't speak for every truck brand and model, but the few trucks I drove that had a splitter and range were all different from the hori shifter with the splitter on the left (thumb) side and range at the front or visa versa :-).

this is a European shifter: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/5REAAOSwknNn57sO/s-l1600.webp

This the first time i've heard the MOZA shifter was bad. I was planning on buying one with the rest of the truck bundle. I've owned MOZA racing wheels and pedals and liked them. Same thing for Fanatec.

So, what's wrong with the MOZA shifter?

It is not "bad", it is just not suitable for trucking. It is standart 7 gears racing shifter. So it is kinda useless and incomparable with hori shifter

Also, you've never seen or touched the Hori wheel, and I admit I wasn't convinced it's good quality, and I agree it's not worth the 600 Dollars they're asking, but so far so good, will get back about it when it breaks down :-), but you also seem to forget that getting the same or very similar setup with Moza will cost a lot more than 600, just the truck wheel and 2 foot pedals are 600, then you still need the handbrake, a 3rd foot pedal and the stalk thingy and a buttonbox, not sure if Moza has the latter...
tbh if you can wait with spending that kind of money then i will advice ya to get the moza instead and yeah i know it is more expensive then that plastic hori i m planning to get the moza in the future

That's true, but it can be driven as a 4 speed and when the proper shift knob is put on it you'll have low/high range switch and splitter button. Then pull it all the way to the left for low and reverse. Just ignore the other gear slots.

The HORI is cheap plastic and reminds me of the Logi shifter. The MOZA shifter is all metal and positive in the shifting.

Ok, if the only problem with the MOZA is gear layout. I'll go ahead and get it. I was worried it had a mechanical problem.

When it came out I was in the market for a new wheel system and personally I decided that it was not worth MY $600.00. I waited and invested a little more to get a DD system and am happy with my decision.

This MOZA have defective parts too, have a video on youtube where the guy waiting two months to have his wheel replaced, problem with the motherboard.
An other thing i don't like on my G29 is too much force , if the Hori have plastic gears, I don't want a strong force on a wheel anyways.
Thanks!
