1.54 is here!! (Please read!)
First off, the update news:
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/270880/view/537723186574262495

Please verify your files. If you have issues and you are on a modded profile, check if you can reproduce it on a vanilla profile (no mods EVER in it). If you can not reproduce it there, it is a mod problem. No, just removing mods is NOT removing the modded stuff from your save file. And no, SCS is NOT responsible for your mod issues.
If you want to continue playing with your outdated mods you can downgrade once the previous version is available from the beta tab (might take a few hours 1.53 is already available in the beta tab).
Yes, your delivery got cancelled in the new version and I have asked you nicely to finish it:

You have been warned.

And for the clarification: PhysX is NOT running on the GPU but on the CPU. Which means that it is compatible for everyone (Bullet also runs on the CPU). And since this game isn't physics heavy, you shouldn't notice much if anything at all.

Bottom line: Make sure your mods are compatible with the new game version by checking what the mod author wrote. Do NOT rely on the mod manager.
It is best to play on a vanilla profile until either you got the clarification from the mod author on the compatibility of your mod(s) or the previous version is available via the beta tab.
Edit: 1.53 is already available in the beta tab so if you need to downgrade, you can.

VR user here. I run Quest 2 with the Oculus Debug tool to force 45 fps with ASW enabled. Butter smooth on 1.53. Upon going to 1.54, I ran my vanilla stock profile with no mods or no graphics enhancements and got big stutters, with or without the Oculus Debug Tool. Should I go back to Bullet?

Please report it on the SCS Forum in a dedicated VR thread. The VR beta is maintained by only one dev in their free time so you have to expect issues. Giving them that information is the best way to go if you want to see improvements there.
Edit: I would recommend the "Technical Problems" section as I couldn't find a VR thread by a quick glance (also because the search needs to be 3 letters and VR is only 2).
Edit2: There is a dedicated thread in the ETS2 part of the SCS Forum. Try it there:

Both links work for me. Even the SCS Forum link works.

NEW UPDATE
Read below hopefully will save you complaining that the game is broken :steammocking:

If you have mods installed then they maybe your problem below is what i do every time there is an update or i have problem's with stuttering freezing or even crashing and problems with texture and graphics and also any cargo problems

There is no easy way to work through making sure all mods are working

First make sure you have verified your files and then simple run the program in vanilla first
that's a profile which has never had any mods what so ever.

simply follow the steps below if unsure

I always run a complete vanilla version which has never had any mods at all every time that a update is done or a crash happens. Then i do a quick job to test always do a complete quick job at every stage

Then i have a second profile where i test each mod for compatibility where i can remove any that are not updated making sure to do a quick job at each stage keeping any mods active that don't cause a problem

Just add one mod at a time running a quick job for each one then leaving all mods that don't cause a crash activated do the same again always make sure that you do a quick job

Then i have a third profile which is my main game profile which is always working as the first two steps make sure everything is fine

hope this helps
No Mods, lots of stuttering, running an Intel I9 64gig, RTX 4080 Super, didn't have any stuttering on the previous version...

If you are not using any mods, please report to SCS on their official forum. Nothing we can do here. At least if the issues are with a pure vanilla profile (no mods EVER).

If you ARE using mods (despite you claim not to), make sure they are updated for this version. The new cargo/trailer system may break a lot of mods this time.

Fair note to keep in mind (as always):

Before posting that "the game is broken" , contact the creators of the mod(s) you (may) use, and have them update their stuff.

Just did a quick delivery from Austin to Lufkin. No stutters at all on my vanilla profile. I'm using an i7-11800H, 16GB RAM and a RTX3070 Laptop GPU (130W TDP) with high settings on 1080p and locked to 60FPS.
Check your settings. And if you had mods on that profile, try to reproduce it on a vanilla profile.

Though looking at the game.log after playing there are a ton of errors that SCS really needs to fix. Too many of them for my taste and on a vanilla profile.

Since nothing changed with ETS2, the issue is not related to the games, but more than likely to your wheel and/or its driver.
