'Gotta say, WL is my happy place in all of ATS-land. WL expansion, yes, for sure.
Players want this or that but won't sign up for a simple account somewhere.
I'd recommend following Wolfgang's suggestion. Of course even if they accept it, it wouldn't be added now, but who knows next year.
If it's really something people want, why not trying though? What better way to be heard? It'd be a nice way, for example, to check if those so popular survivor features from another game are really popular.
But I kind of agree it may be a work for a mere suggestion. What really bugs me is when people don't wanna do it for a bug. Either the bug isn't really that serious, or they believe lots of people are having the same issue and someone else will do it, or they don't wanna admit it's caused by a mod.
True, but SCS won't see the suggestion here.
The advice to make a suggestion at the SCS forums is completely sensible.
I can only speak for myself, and I will. I was being agreeable with the OP and should have offered the same advice as Wolfgang did.
While I would welcome an expansion, I still would personally prefer that SCS stay focused on completing the lower 48 and game engine updates first; so they'll get no reason to veer off that path from me.
But if they do, so be it. RE: the topic of this thread, if they do, cool so be it.
WL is well done, and already fun to drive, imo. I'd welcome more of it, but this is not a "must have" for me at the same time.
FWIW, agree completely that bugs should be reported, that's just part of doing what we can to help make the game better for everyone. 100% on that.
Happy Holidays All! Ready or not, here comes 2025!
Cheer up Buggy Boy. Santa even left you a present instead of a lump of coal. I think the message he is trying to send to you with that brain under water is "don't overthink it".
If you really cared enough to speak up for an idea, you'd do it in the right place for maximum effect (best return for the effort made), and you sure wouldn't let something like a forum registration stop you. Something that you've done a bothersome amount of times already.
So yah, Happy Holidays! Now go pet your brain, and remember to keep the jar filled with water or it'll start to smell . . . and Happy New Year!
The fact that so many other developers DO read their game’s Steam forums, accept bug reports and suggestions, etc seems to have completely bypassed people who are piling on me and would also be the reason why so many end users do expect that sort of developer interaction across all Steam forums, here being no exception. One could compare the experience to PayPal - why is it so popular? Perhaps because it’s a common interface that removes the need to input your credit card details every time you want to make an online purchase from a different vendor, you’re probably already logged into PayPal so it speeds things up and makes life simpler.
One other aspect to this is security - every new user account that a person creates is another potential attack vector for hackers, whether it’s due to that companies servers being hacked (e.g. the SCS forums) or the email address / password used in the account creation, it’s another presence on the internet exposing those details. Does everyone use unique complex passwords (a random string of 16~20 characters including upper and lower case, special, and punctuation) for every account they create… or do they just use the same simple password for everything because perhaps they’re not as tech savvy as the rest of us? It may sound like I’m just being a griper, but cyber security is a big part of modern life if you use the internet, and not taking precautions in this regard is like walking around a busy town with a bunch of notes hanging out of your back pocket.
2) If you are reusing your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ password across multiple accounts then you getting hacked due to that is on you. Don't complain about the consequenzes of your actions that you have been warned about multiple times from multiple people.
3) What different devs do is THEIR thing. Just because some do it doesn't mean that multiple do that nor have to do that. It is a cost factor first and foremost and digging through piles of false reports due to mod issues is a huge time and thus money sink.
Counter example of the most successfull game: Bug reports are only valid on the Minecraft bug tracker website. Not on Twitter, Facebook, Discord or even r/minecraft or other websites.
Why? Because it funnels them on one website that is easily searchable for the devs which speeds up the process of fixing actual bugs. Plus, devs can simply edit the title to show a QA ID or if it is a known issue, mod issue or has been fixed internally already. Good luck doing that on any other third party website.
Because you came to cry your heart out on a thread that isn't yours maybe?
