Dubuque, Iowa
I live in the city of Dubuque Iowa. Dubuque was the very first city in the state of Iowa. It actually existed as a city before Iowa was made a state so you can say that Iowa was born in the city of Dubuque.

What this post is about is that I believe that the Iowa DLC must contain a very well done city of Dubuque and should be highlighted in a very big way.

God bless

As a former Iowan I would be surprised if Dubuque is not in the DLC. I am not sure about highlighted in a very big way though. I am really looking forward to seeing what things are and are not included in the Iowa DLC.

This thread caused me to do a quick online refresher about Dubuque and I can honestly say that the OP is not exaggerating about it's historical importance and significance to the state of Iowa.

However, with the game scaling at 1:20, a player does have to manage their expectations as BigT57 suggests. But it sure would be a 'head-scratcher' if it isn't at least included, to say the least.

I don't expect them to do an exact replica, even though that would be very very cool, lol.

I am hoping they see my post though, I have not lived in Dubuque my entire life but my father was from here so we visited my grandparents a lot and ended up moving here in the mid 80s to take care of them as they got older, so I have been here close to 40 years now.

I used to travel to Dubuque when the Q was still running hounds, and I agree with this. Downtown is absolutely stunning. The city proper can be extremely hilly, but I'd love to it in ATS

You might have to wait until Wisconsin and/or Illinois drop depending on how they join up the states. What sort of trucking routes exist there? Going off ETS2 historical or cultural significance hasn't really been a big priority.

I wouldn't worry about that. Judging by the map, the main road from Cedar Rapids, IO to Madison, WI goes through Dubuque. I believe those two will be no. 2 priorities to Iowa & Wisconsin.

US20 is a now a 4 lane highway all the way from Sioux City to Dubuque which I would expect should be included in the DLC. I full expect the cities along US20 to be in the DLC which would also include Fort Dodge and Waterloo.

Think we'll get danger money for going through dirty dodge?

I went to school in Fort Dodge for two years in the 70s not sure what it is like now. I did not think it was that bad but there were a few areas to avoid.

I've visited towns in this game that I've lived in. It's an uncanny experience. The town is simultaneously recognizable as well as very wrong. :winter2019joyfultearsdog:

That's due to the scaling and also to the fact that they can't use real-world businesses. You'll get situations where there should be a line of stores but instead it's a large parking lot with incorrect building locations. Entire chunks of a town will be missing; you'll drive in from the highway and instead of the main street with shopping locations on either side, that will be missing entirely and you'll suddenly be on the other side of town.

It's really weird. But it's also understandable.

One town I drove through was a university town. The front yard sign was present but changed so that they didn't use the real name of the university, and the entirety of the university was missing along with much of the street itself.

In all fairness, I think most of Iowa, Fort Dodge included, is going a lot better on that front than the actually 'bad' parts of the US.

Definitely agree. When I was going to school in Fort Dodge some people referred to it as Little Chicago meant in a bad way. I live in suburban Chicago now and would say the bad parts of Fort Dodge are pretty decent compared to the bad parts of Chicago.

Yep, lots of history and not all of it is good.

We for sure need Sabula, Iowa the Island City of Iowa that connects to Savanna Illinois over the Mississippi. Then we can connect our entire area from probably Moline to Dubuque. I work in East Dubuque

It dirty dodge for reason tho, although alot of it is blown outta proportion compared to how it was when my parents where growing up there, I lived 40 minutes out from Dodge going towards Manson, and I remember all kids in my class would brag about going to the "Flats" of dodge at night. Which is kinda comical now because I still go there to shoot hoops with some friends who moved to dodge.
