Steering wheel and pedals combo for both ATS and ETS2
So next month I will be buying a new Gaming Laptop and separate monitor to replace my current gaming laptop, I am also thinking of getting a Steering wheel/pedals combo as well and will be getting all of the stuff from Best Buy Canada, just want to get feedback as to which would be the best combination set. Below is some of the specs of the new laptop I am getting:

MSI Thin 15.6" FHD 1920 x 1080 144hz IPS Gaming Laptop - Intel Core i5-12450H - Nvidia Geforce RTX 2050 - 32 GB RAM - 512 GB NVMe SSD - Windows 11 Home

Which steering wheel pedal set would work the best with a laptop such as this.

the simple question is: what has the wheel to serve? only Truck simulating a cheap belt driven on will do the job. Like Logitech G29 or Thrustmaster t248. But if you plan to use it also for racing games like ACC, AMS2, iracing or LMU - then a DD wheel with loadcell pedal is the choice: here you can go for Moza, fanatec, thrustmaster and logitech.

What is your budget? A standard recommendation is the Logitech G29/920 or the newer G923. These have all the features you want in a wheel, but with lower (still good) quality. Pedals feel just fine, FFB works but is weaker, notchy, and loud. Stuff like that. Spending more for something belt driven makes for a better FFB experience, and a direct drive wheel is going to be strongest and smoothest, but is far overkill for most people. Do you plan to do anything else with the wheel, or just ATS? There are truck bundles or truck wheels from Hori and Moza if you just want a wheel for this game and nothing else.

Well uhm considering I asked regarding both the ATS and Euro Truck Simulator 2 in the title, let me guess and say for at least the two games in the title, no rocket science needed for that, also I do have other driving games on steam including one of the Formula 1 games which I may see about using the wheel for.

No need to be snarky, ATS and ETS2 are mechanically identical and anything that works in one works in the other, so in this discussion on the ATS forum, anything about wheels can be applied to ETS2.

And since you didnt mention your budget, there is nothing I can add to my previous comment for recommendations.

the belt driven thrustmasters have better, smoother ffb in comparison to the logitechs.

All that really matters is the budget you are willing to spend, you can want any wheel you like, but if you can't afford it... what's the point in asking? :steamfacepalm:

i am 70 and i can not tell difference between a 720 and a 1080 tv screen , so for me i have a g920 and works great . but if your seeing is really sharp and you can tell the difference then get the overkill wheel.

Budget wise it is hard to say, I am getting a laptop that is over 1000 so I do have not bad a budget but I won't go overboard on what I get. I was only looking for suggestions as to what I might get,

I refer your comment to my last post, budget is open but I won't go overboard and have never had a steering wheel set before so am not sure what there is out there, I have been looking now for a bit and saw so many at various prices but some of the brands I have seen I have never heard of, I have heard of the Logitech models and I use Logitech for so many things and like their equipment.

Most sim racing equipment comes from brands that do only racing wheels or game controllers. Thrustmaster, Fanatec, Moza, Hori, etc all are fairly niche brands. Logitech makes a lot of regular stuff like mice, keyboards, and headphones which is why you have heard of them most likely. The Logitech Wheels is very high end when compared to "regular" gaming stuff or budget wheels, but are lacking when compared to true sim grade equipment. If you have never had a wheel, the Logitech wheels will probably suit you just fine. I have a G920 for a few years now, and I may upgrade if the opportunity presents itself, but it is fine for most things.

The newer Logi or Thrusty wheels often dont include a shifter. You can use the paddles on the wheel instead.
The older 2nd hand Logi G25 and G27 do include a shifter for more truck sim realism. YMMV

No one, since the combination of Steering wheels and laptops are a bad combo.

You will likely have issues with the power supply unit affording enough power to the USB-ports.

Amidst the game the wheel stops working.

I would rather go for a stationary PC, which has a stronger power supply units.

From what I can tell Thrustmaster wheels are not powered by the USB port.
My T150 has a power cord.
The T248 i.e. comes with a power supply and cable.

If you don't connect a ton of USB devices and charge your mobile when the wheel is connected, I don't see any issues even with wheels that use the USB as a power supply.
But I have not tried it out. :)
Thrustmaster with own power supply should be no problem at all.

This is incorrect. USB only provides the PC signalling to the wheel. Power for the wheel is supplied by its own power brick
