Controllers not working while driving
It looks like the game does not recognize my controllers (Xbox Elite Series 2, Switch Pro) while driving. They work perfectly in the menu (and not just "as mouse" -- the directional pad buttons and LB/RB navigate the menus like they should), but while driving, at most, throttle and brake work, nothing else. I'm playing the Linux Native version on Garuda Linux.
  • I have Steam Input enabled.
  • As stated above, the controllers work just fine in the menus.
  • I checked, Keyboard+Steam Input Controller is present in the Controls menu (I've even tried putting it in the first place, still no dice).
  • I've tried changing to a random other layout and back to the official one, still the same.
  • I also tried launching the game from Big Picture, that didn't help, either.
  • Euro Truck Simulator works perfectly with the same controllers, so it looks like it's something specifically in ATS.

Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this?

Copy the controls.sii file from ETS2 and put it in ATS.

Where do I find this file? I don't see it in my folders.

Docs>ATS or ETS2>profiles>{your current profile}>controls.sii
your current profile is listed as a string of numbers. If you have more than one, the current one will be the folder with the newest "date modified"

good idea to make backups before you stuff around with this, so you can at least revert if it makes it worse

Thanks, but same ♥♥♥♥. Can't look around. Tried everything. With Steam input, without, copying controls.sii.
Game was working just fine with controller until the stupid update in September, since then it's unplayable. And I don't see why customers should do all this stuff when it was working fine before the devs ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up.

Use the KB + M like the rest of us. It is a PC game.

Speak for yourself Pleb I run a full DD wheel, Load cell pedal, Shifter complete with Eaton style shift khob with range swtiches, all while playing in VR
This a sim so at the very least usiing a controller is validI
I can't imagine drivin a truck with a keyboard the lack of imnersion and accuracy it sounds awful, donr't push your mediocre choices on somebody trying to get a more realistic experience vs your "basic b1tch" drivihng experience you seem to thiink is superior,,,:flammable:

At the OP have you tried running the Config Wizard again and see if that works andt you will be able to see your inputs are working properly there as well. I know there was a recent update that allowed more flexibilty for game pads such as modifiers etc [/quote]

I did not run the full wizard again, as for now, copying controls.sii and controls_linux.sii from ETS2 solved the problem. But thanks for the suggestion, if I or someone who reads this in the future has this problem, it might be worthwhile.
