What's causing Steam to not sync with cloud for ATS?
I get this problem relatively frequently where Steam cannot sync with the cloud for ATS. Spamming the re-sync button doesn't seem to help at all. Is there a work around with this?

I personally don't let any cloud service touch my files. I don't trust them one bit.

If you want to turn off Steam Cloud for ATS then launch the game. On the Launchpad click on Manage Profiles and untick the Steam Cloud option for each profile.

As for the sync issue I would have no idea. I would do the normal troublehshooting. Restarting Steam, power cycling your internet modem/router., check for any firewalls that may be blocking things especially if on a vpn.

I wish I used a VPN. But this is an occasional occurrence myself and my brother have with this game. I guess saving locally is probably the best option and just abandon the cloud save since that is not reliable.

Ask Steam why.

The short answer is Steam. The Cloud gets fiddly sometimes. This is doubly true if you've got more than one device you play Steam games on (a main desktop, a laptop, a Steam Deck...)

As for Steam Cloud more generally, I don't mind Valve keeping my game saves where I can easily use them on multiple devices or where I don't have to move all my game saves over when I buy a new computer.

I find it easier and less frustrating to buy a USB HDD or SSD and back up my games to it.
USB storage devices are inexpensive and easy to use.

Don't use Steam Cloud, it sucks. I just back my ATS documents folder up onto an external HDD a couple of times a week.

If you have limited bandwidth and =anything else= bumps the stream while Steam is attempting to sync you will get a failure. Retry sync later when there's less 'noise'. Have to imagine older satellite based systems will be troublesome during peak load hours.

I pretty much never have any problem with Steam cloud. I'm in Australia. Maybe it's regional.

I reckon you might try clearing your cache. Settings > Downloads > Clear Download Cache. No idea if that will help. Just a suggestion.

It's a Steam glitch. I get that with some games that aren't even cloud enabled, as well as with ETS2/ATS even though I don't have cloud enabled for them.
