Oh yah, that's right. You're just here to make loud noises like this:
https://youtu.be/pKnWKDbb5lk?si=WSWdtDtOfvIhhaNG
This is a game, not reality. Play it. Outsmart the npc traffic, it is easy to do.
Patient: "Hey doc, it hurts when I do this!"
Doctor: "Then don't do that."
It's not the application of differential geometry to special relativity.
I'm stating that since the recent updates post 1.35 the traffic has gotten way worse.
Exactly what changes has SCS made (in recent updates post 1.35) that have made it worse?
Or are you merely stating your own subjective opinion based on your play alone (your personal anecdotal experience)?
Do you always use your turn signal indicators in a timely manner before making a lane change or merging with npc traffic?
Do you know what a zipper merge is and if so do you make any attempt to do so non-problematically when either the npc traffic is trying to merge with you, or you are trying to merge with it? . . . or do you just race them to the merge point and hope for the best?
Why do you insist on the npc traffic automatically "knowing" what they should do, in order to stay out of your way, no matter what or how you might be driving (even if it has absolutely no AI behind it's behavior?).
I'm just stating why a player like you might have the problems that you describe, while players like myself have very few problems at all with the very same thing you find so difficult to deal with.
This is just another possible explanation for you to consider (other than blaming SCS for having bad AI traffic in the game - even though there is no such thing as AI traffic in the game.
The drivers seem more erratic and unpredictable now, especially on highways. Aside from excessive weaving back and forth, they will sometimes stop dead, right in the middle of their lane, with nobody ahead or next to them and me several truck lengths back.
The lane changes thing you can at least influence with modding - the ai_patience_modifier line in traffic_data.sii is by default commented out - I tried re-enabling it and setting it to -0.75 (range is between 1 and -1, 1 being most and -1 least patient). This made them less patient and therefore seem to be more likely to change lanes to overtake AND STAY THERE in order to continue moving at their desired speed.
I've done several Special Transport contracts, at least during one with a rail car going from Kawasaki in Lincoln, NE (well aware its Overrider, however I drive by there every single day) to North Platte and several times the escort vehicle will just stop in the middle of I-80 for no reason whatsoever. This is also true doing External WoT contracts, traffic in either the right lane, middle lane, or left passing lane will just drive along at or below the posted speed limit. This could easily be taken care of, but I should not have to get mods that will only work for a handful of weeks or months until the next update comes out and have to wait until the mod creator gets around to updating it.
Maybe there are documented changes that I'm unaware of. Exactly which documented changes has SCS made to the NPC traffic since 1.35 which have made it worse?
I have not done any ST jobs since 1.50 was released but if there are escorts stopping in the middle of the road "for no reason" that absolutely needs to be fixed. Are you sure that there were no other triggers nearby that might have caused them to stop?
Just because something "seems" to be, doesn't mean it is. Feelings are not supporting evidence.
But make no mistake, I'm not saying it doesn't happen (not calling anyone a liar).
Thats normal as also irl, Other drivers in traffic gets even more worse and idiotic lol
