Use the map to pin your route through small roads. Be warn this will prolong your route distance and delivery time. A mod that extend delivery time would be useful.

Get ETS want lots of turns. Think I do more turns than I do straight runs.

How many states do you have? If its just the base game of California, Nevada, and Arizona, outside of grabbing the rest of the west coast and all the other states, not really. The game is a grind. Instead of going for long distance, enjoy the short hop stuff to get the other stuff leveled up. Such as priority, high value, HAZMAT endorsements.

Switch nav to Shortest, you get a nice mix of highways and smaller roads.

Personally, I have run into the same issue OP.

That's why I play with a blindfold on. ATS is way more challenging this way and I am constantly finding myself making turns that I don't even need, or want to make. Works like a charm.

This also takes care of another issue with ATS, it's screwed up economy. Play the game my way (with a blindfold on) and just like irl it'll take you years of gameplay in order to purchase your first truck.

I've been playing for several years now and I'm still trying to complete my first delivery.
ATS economy problem solved.

Trust me, a blindfold works like magic for this game.

Another thing you can try is only driving in reverse. I hear that adds challenge to the game as well.

My real pet peeve with ATS though is this: Who keeps knocking all the street signs down? SCS will never be able to complete even the lower 48 if they have to keep spending so much money on sign replacements and repairs. Geeze Louise! :lunar2019piginablanket:

Thank you sincerely though OP, it's players like you who are willing to ask the tough questions that really make a difference! /s :lunar2019crylaughingpig:

You pick the routes, so choose runs that will take you through the mountainous parts of Colorado, Oregon, Washington and Idaho. Add waypoints to avoid interstates in favour of twisties.

For me is driving on the interstates mostly boring, so I chose the small roads taking some scenic detours.

With world of truck deliveries you have plenty of time, but my employees makes so much money I don't have to care if I am late or don't get paid for my delivery, i just drive for fun 😊

IRL, try driving Rt 80 thru PA, or the roads in MT, WY, or the Dakotas. Add TX and the breadbasket states (already DLC). America is not as crowded as Europe.

Try getting 100% map coverage. You will be driving places that you would probably never otherwise drive to.

I mean, thats pretty much truck driving in america....which is what american truck simulator is, simulating. I think once they finally make it to the east coast, it will be closer to what youre looking for, but thats gonna be several years out. I also think it would be pretty neat if they added straight trucks and dump trucks to the game, and have us doing more local deliveries in towns, cities and more remote areas. Something like a cross of the mudrunner series.

The problem with this however, would mean more detailed and diverse cities and towns. Which would require tons of work to do with even a fraction of the cities in the game, and balloon the game to an unimaginable size. Basically every city would have to be its own, huge, detailed freeroam map, and thats just not feesible for any studio basically mapping the entire country, let alone a small indie one. That is way games like the crew felt so empty.

The american interstate system is rather boring in all honesty, and its also where long haul drivers spend the majority of their time. Which is good for a game like this, as they can focus more on general enviroments in specific parts of the country, which helps keep dev time lower, with little detail and size to the actual cities themselves.

Once they hit the mid atlantic/northeast regions there may be a bit more city driving and variety, seeing how clustered and condensed everything is there. Until then though, there are alot of mods out there that can change up the maps, trucks, and deliveries. Or you can do what others have suggested, and make your own routes and make it as hard or diverse as you want.

Driving on a highway is kinda boring most of the time.

Not everyone was cut out for life on the road.

If I was a truck driver IRL I would want a stick shift. I could not imagine how hard it would be to stay awake while driving an automatic for that long each day.
