So, I have a stereotype in my brain that this game is boring. Im open to being proved wrong.
What am i missing. What makes this game "Overwhelmingly Positive". Should I get it? i play hunting games and Assetto Corsica and other sims so Im not a teenager expecting fortnite levels of excitement but "driving down a highway"? I just dont know if its worth my time.

I also live in a region that has the most nothing redundant stretches of highway in North America lol (southern ontario canada) so highway driving IRL is boring as heck

There is a demo you can try. It's on an older game version, but you will get the feel of the game and whether or not it's something you will enjoy. :)

To me, this game is worth it, although I play Beamng and Train sim, so I probably think different than you. The way the game is built, on a 1/19 scale, SCS cuts most of the boring stuff(I.E. on I-70 in Colorado glenwood Canyon is probably on a 1/5 scale and and between Glenwood Springs and Grand Junction is probably more like a 1/40 scale. I will say though, there is no point to this game unless you get the map DLC's. Cali is currently under rebuild, but for now its done terribly compared to the newer stuff. Also, almost as fun as driving is building up your company into an empire. It's totally your decision, I would watch some videos of the base game and some map DLC ones, you can better understand what the gameplay is like like that.

I enjoy it because it's stress free compared to iracing, ACC, and AC. All those games I'm balls to wall and in this game I can relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

It is a form of meditation, like motorcycle riding it occupies just enough of your mind to quiet it down.

It is a great game to play and unwind, give you some time to think through your day and relax.

I only play to progress my World of Trucks profile. I have no clue why I am going so far but I am past 6000 jobs completed. I will hop between truckersmp and single player doing World of Trucks jobs. The graphics need better antialiasing but the scenery is decent enough. The trucks drive okay but could use some sound work. That is why I play and my problems. This game does not seem like my trucking dream game but just a trucking game. Maybe my outlook will change through future updates.

i just got the game 2 days ago, i play games like mudrunner, snowrunner, and acc, forza ect. I played ats for a few hours then went back and brought all the dlc the game has to offer whike it was on sale.. idk about many other truck simulators but its hands down better then snowrunner ( ats has a actual working transmission 10,13,18 ect) where snowrunner your just hold gas and crawl slow af (and i actual like snowrunner alot till i got ats) i deff think its worth the money its alot more realistic sim then the other and alot less sweaty and relaxing then acc.. (although i use a wheel pedel clutch and jake break set up if your on controller only maybe not idk)

LOL.

Coming from a former trucker with 400,000 safe miles across the lower 48 in all kinds of weather... I assure you, it is hardly just "driving down a highway". You have to be able to turn around and back a trailer in tight quarters, dodge idiot drivers at 65 mph, and be prepared for random lane closures and traffic obstructions at highway speed. It is hardly boring, unless you just find it too challenging, no offense of course. You either like driving games or you don't. It's that simple. But I assure you, this game is very realistic and driving a tractor-trailer is much more challenging than any other vehicle.

Just be aware that as you level up, your deliveries get more and more challenging. Less time, slower routes, etc.

F1 drivers will be shocked to know how easy they have had it :lunar2019smilingpig:

Yeah, I would love to see newbies stream their ATS gameplay after beating NFS, GT, etc. As Joe Pesci said in Casino... "I'm over *HERE*, now..."

In the over 2000 hours I've spent playing ATS and ETS2 I don't think that the word "challenging" ever seemed to fit, but whatever, it doesn't matter why you like the game, just that you are doing something that you enjoy.

Absolutely. I only say "challenging" as a warning to those who have never driven such vehicles. Because let's face it, the average motorist doesn't have a clue about these trucks. They routinely cut short the path of an 80,000-lb vehicle that needs 800 feet to stop by merging with 20 feet between bumpers. So I hardly think the average person who's never driven a truck would find this game a cakewalk right out of the gate.

Yeah I was aware that the transmissions on big rigs are no joke. glad to know the game incorporates "missions". Does the game emulate dangerous things happening on highways like stuff you mentioned and
mountain storms, falling rocks?
