Recent Updates led to Graphics Issues
What's happened in the latest updates that would cause jerky graphics all the time in the city? I only had issues around emergency vehicles in the past. Now my graphics are jerky all around the city with lots of traffic. The game never used to do this on my PC before. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Verify your files. You can do this by doing a right-click on the game in your Steam Library and going to "Properties". There you go to "Local files" and there should be the option to verify your files.

Otherwise it is likely a mod issue.
You specifically mentioned traffic. There was indeed an update related to traffic after Texas (1.46) release: the spawn distance was increased, and LOD models are loaded a little further from where you are. As cities have more concentrate traffic, it may be the cause of your issue.

There are some non-related changes you can do to your config to improve the performance, like not using scaling on very high levels, and reducing the quality of mirrors as you'te rendering the whole map on each one you have. You can also reduce the rendering distance of both the whole map and/or the mirrors, but this may affect the gameplay though.

I have the same issue and was always thining it is because of my computer..

Actually it's more likely to be your computer than any game. It depends if your PC specs are enough to run the game you wanna play.

I have learned front mirrors are a big performance killer as well as scaling.

I have a amd 3700x, rtx 3070, 32gb, and nvme drives. I ran everything at ultra and high with scaling at 400. Very minimal issues.

As soon as I added Texas my performance plummeted. Removing front mirror helped tremendously and lowered scaling to 300. People say you can’t noticed scaling from 400 to 300 but I think I can.

Anyhow try those settings and let us know!

i was wondering why my 3080 hits frame rates between 50 and 95 fps. i figured i should be hitting 144 easily as thats my monitor htz at 3440 1440 rez.

Easy. More to render in the cities plus this game is not optimized to use newer technology all that well. The game does not take advantage of the graphics card drivers.

Have to be patient as the game is being updated to DX12 with improvements to performance, rendering(a new way to render the game actually), anti-aliasing, and more.

DX12 is not a cure all mind you. If SCS can get proper multicore CPU support then it will do wonders for everyone.

ETA: The whole point of this game, no matter what hardware you use, is to have a smooth and steady FPS. This is not a first person shooter like PubG, Fortnite, Battlefield, and whatever else is out there in that genre.

I have my FPS locked to 60(12GB EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3) using Nvidia Control Panel and I seldom move off 60. FPS will sometimes flicker between 59/60. My monitor is a 1440p Dell S2721DGF 27" Nano IPS with 165Hz max(aka 165FPS). My graphics card does not go above 65°C with these settings.

No, framerates dip into the 30s for what seems like no reason (rain doesn't help either) from solid 60s. Using Sysinternals, I can see my GPU running at 75% all the time (no spikes), CPU running around 10% (no spikes), and GPU RAM full at 3.8 of 4.0 GB. So, I really don't know why it lags like this, except feeding GPU RAM isn't keeping up with the gameplay.

I'm running 1440p and 125% scaling.

I understand near cities there is more to render and the newer technology might not help either. And yes I am not asking for 200fps or anything but I would like to have a solid frame rate above 65fps that does not studder. before about 1 year ago I was running 1080x1920 res with a 1070 video card and was seeinģ a maximum frame of 80 to 83fps with a low in the 40fps and studdering. that monitor was 165 htz and none of my games did i see those frame rates. I feel like my new 3080 card gets to hot seeing as hot as 83 to 87°C. I am not trying to steal the thread but I was trying to figure out why I'm not getting the frame rates I figured that the card should at least be able to stay above

i am having the same jerky/lagy issues with a 5900x and a 3090. so cant be the specs. its the same thing on my laptop with a 3060 and a 5800hs. so something has happend since this latest update cause its been great prior to this. also the studdering starts if i get close to the edge of the highways or braking or turning. also noticed loads not showing up in yards when selecting the job.

I am pretty sure your GPU is already throttling due to the temperature which explains why you have these issues. It is simply your GPU trying to not overheat.
The solution to this is to improve your cooling. Remove dust, check if fans are still operating.
The temporary solution is to reduce the graphic settings.

That more sounds like the issue being due to mods than anything. And you can not judge the game performance from a modded profile. Just like with bug reports: Only vanilla profiles (no mods ever in it) count.

I moved my game folder to a solid state disk (SSD), and bumped up my RAM to 32G (windows OS uses all unused RAM as a disk cache). That has completely eliminated the jerkiness as the game now does not have to wait on Disk I/O to read in the models while driving through cities. Before, with the game on a regular hard disk (HDD) and only 8G of RAM I had severe jerkiness and lag while driving around TX -- directly related to poor Disk I/O performance.

Ok so i removed all mods, and started the game, steam fps counter showed i was getting 4000 fps, then the game goes to 1 fps, then game pauses and my controller disconnects. So its not mods. i just went through and removed everything ATS releated and im going to try again

EDIT:::: i have found my issue, it is my xbox wireless controller connected thru bluetooth causing my issue. So weird cause its never done that before. if i disable bluetooth and connect with usb cable its perfect. I switched back and forth and every time i went wireless using bluetooth the game would go nuts, So weird.
