Any other website is at your own risk of 1) Having a really bad mod that is most likely outdated 2) Getting a virus
What cool mod are we talking here if you don't mind me asking?
For external mods I mostly use atsmods.lt and a reliable adblocker. The latter is also needed for downloads from the SCS forum because usually the same hosting sites are used.
Those stolen mods aren't neccessarily better profile safety wise, an update is often just a version change, or minor things changed that can just as well break your save.
Either way, you still need to update your mods, wheter it's downloaded ones, or copies you made from Steam to a local folder and at least from the Steam workshop you know where to find them on your pc (from the same author), no add blocker needed, with the dodgy websites you can never be sure to find a properly updated version.
The more people that use those websites, the less chances of keeping good mods (free) for the community.
Steam Workshop. Other mods not in the Steam Workshop. Always ck the developer of a mod. Times when that takes a bit of research. Any questions please ask in the forums. A number of members will direct you to the mod developed by the mod author.
Example SCS Forums. Then use the mod developers link to down load. Paid mods. Use the developers web sight and down load link.
SCS Forums. Suggest you become a member. Wealth of information as well as support. Once again "Your Choice".

Also avoid the map mod from KDog as it is also stolen content of multiple map mods that just got mashed together and reuploaded without permission.

It may be a bit outdated.
I personally only get my mods from the Workshop, Truckymods, or from the author links on the SCS Forums, even if they upload the mod to a known malware site such as sharemods.
Yep. Truckymods is safe.
