Driving in Rain
I am noticing that driving in rain is simulated like driving on pure ice. Do you encounter the same behaviour of your truck? Last night I drove along an slightly inclined road while my truck got slower and slower and then quit moving at all. Trying to drive on again was literally impossible. It even began to slide backwards.
Come on, we are in rain and not on pure ice in Arizona. How can I change this unnatural behaviour?
Oh, and yes, I am experienced in driving heavy cars, also with long trailers. OK, a car is not a truck but still, rain isn't ice.

Beta 1.40 or 1.39? Are you using any mods?

Try the Dynamix Heavy Duty tires on your truck. They have more traction in the rain.

If your tires were really worn, that might explain it, although I've never noticed it. Only noticed sliding on turns/poor steering in the rain at maybe 25% plus tire wear. Check in Diagnostics on main screen and repair at truck service centre.

sliding while driving in the rain? sure its called black ice.....common in hot environments...but stopping on a hill and it being wet with a load...yea tough situation...even pressing V didnt help give you the extra needed to get the forward motion going?

WOW, never had that problem and I've been driving in this sim for more than 3 years.

Update:
I encounter this situation with every truck whatever load I have.
@Reversoman:
Good point with the worn tires, I'll check, although don't think so, since I drove with several trucks on a loan basis.
As said, I have the Natural Lux mod installed. It is a skybox and weather app. I am going to do tests now without the mod and will keep you informed.
Underscore_101_3 Feb 17, 2021 @ 8:59am
Not encountered this in a vanilla game, only when using weather mods.
Have tried to reproduce it in a vanilla game, but couldn't (so far).

Update:
Yes, I can confirm now what Underscore_101 said. The very weird behaviour happens only when using the Natural Lux mod, and funny so far, there not always. When in vanilla WoT the behaviour is as you would expect it in real world rain.

Old topic I know, but still relevant. Driving on wet roads is like driving on ice. Pure vanilla profile, never used mods. Even with just 3% tire wear it's easy to slide off the road going into a turn or curve, and don't tell me about hydroplaning. In order to hydroplane, you need to be driving though a pool of water, and water doesn't pool on hills.

If they ever introduce seasons to the game, it will be easy to implement, just turn the rain into a snow visual effect. The physics are already there.

Not having that issue on my vanilla profile at all. The brake distance is longer, yes, but I experience no sliding.

Same, I have no sliding just longer braking distances. Sadly unlike ETS2, all the tires in ATS are for looks only and do not (currently) have different stats that change things like grip or fuel efficiency. I'm sure it will come someday but it isn't in the game yet.

As for it being like driving on ice, never seen or had anything like that. If you are speeding on curves and areas -- especially going up or down hills/mountains, then you won't slow/grip enough in the turn and can hit the side of the road -- but if you follow speed limits and actually read alert signs that give a suggested speed at which to take tighter corners at, then you have zero issues.

I bet most of the people having problems are going max speed all the time and never slow for turns even when there's a posted cornering speed.

Not entirely true. The tires do have stats in the game data but it isn't shown and IIRC they aren't that different.
