Kenworth W900 Vs Peterbilt 389?
Recently i decided to get an older style truck. i tried out both. kinda prefer the mirrors on the kenworth, but the peterbilt 389 has a really nice sounding horn, and i like the headlight customization. im tied on which to get. which should i get and why? does one have a better engine? thanks for the help.

Both have the maximum of 625 HP so same engine power and of course same for the transmission when maxed out. At this point you'd be torn on just the mirrors on the Kenworth and the horn/headlight customization on the Peterbilt.

Eventually you'll probably own both, biggest differences are generally mirrors and dash display, don't know that I ever blew a horn :lunar2019smilingpig:

Pick whichever one you think looks better, honestly. Not just the seat material and color, but how the dash is laid out and how much visibility the truck has. Exterior lights, accessories, etc. all make good things to consider too. Pick the truck you think you'll like driving more.

I think they both have pretty much the same engine options (edit: ninja'd by Fearagen), and the horns should also be able to be changed (so the W900 could get whichever one the 389 has).

I personally prefer the W900 because it has somewhat better visibility (one-piece windshield with no bar down the middle, and the 389's sun visor can make traffic lights difficult to see at times), but it's entirely up to you.

hmm. im really tied on it. i loved my old kenworth t680, so im tempted to get the kenworth since maybe i just like the kenworth trucks, but i love the looks of the peterbilt, with the window pillar, the interior, and i just love the horn sound... its a hard choice. i think i might have to get the peterbilt though.

Personally not a fan of the turning radius on the Peterbilts I've driven, but I'm not sure I've driven the 389 specifically. But maybe I'm just used to my little Volvo and its insanely tight turns.

It you're not using any engine-sound mods, then pick the W900. It has a much better sound. It also has an easily visible clock, which the 389 doesn't.

imho the 389 just looks cooler from the outside, specially with a low roof and sleeper cabin.

I personally think the peterbilt 389 looks a lot better than the kenworth w 900 truck

So the Pete actually has a shorter wheelbase and more steering agile than the w900. The w900 has better visibility .They both have the same power plant etc

W900 all the way. Nearly at 40k miles on my plane-jane W900 and I own a whole fleet of identical trucks. With the C15 and Eaton 18-speed the W900 is a triple-digit truck that can reach 105 pulling a rocky-mountain double. The layout of the dash is perfect, visibility is definitely better than the 389, and the engine sounds right especially when jaking at high RPM or at full throttle in the low range. Also the truck itself is a perfect blend between an old-school and more modern truck with the 90's-era Aerodyne Studio Sleeper.

Peterbilt 389 is better. W900 is expensive to operated with his high consum and is also quite fragil, fair for highways but dont go on mines or dirty roads. You get damage very fast.

Update, got a peterbilt 389, customized the paint and everything, and currently looks like a very nice truck.

Sadly, i cant see any mirrors except the hood mirrors without turning (which is a rather big factor, and the reason i bought the t680 over many other trucks) but thankfully, i can get the "classic style" mirrors, which i can see much better. i might buy those, sadly not until level 10 so stuck with the hood mirrors and the screen mirrors. then possibly invest in a sleeper cabin (for the style) and then the old style headlights

Also, oddly enough, the engine sounds much different from when i was using it on quick jobs. probably because i upgraded the engine and transmission. i did like the older sound better, but i still like this engine sound.

Something i have noticed, as a mainly ETS player, is that the trucks are a lot less maneuverable in ATS then in ETS. and it feels like i barely make every turn, and its often a stuggle to maneuver into the hard parking delivery points. unsure how much a long frame and a sleeper will help that, but hopefully ill get better at it as i play with the 389. decided not to take 100k loan, and just used quick jobs to get 70k and then a 50k loan which im currently working on now. mainly trucking in arizona and utah, but might go north to idaho (i recently bought the DLC a few months ago, and might go see what idaho is like. and maybe soon ill get the wyoming DLC which is the last one i dont have. since i have been to wyoming and enjoyed it)

Nice. You'll get used to the turning radius. Definitely more then the t680.
I like the 389's outside, but the kw900 inside is better.

The longer the truck is overall, the less maneuverability it will have. ETS 2 trucks are very nimble, because they have very short wheelbases, while a really short ATS truck, is still longer than a truck from ETS2.
