Will ATS support DirectX 12 or 11?
It will be cool!

By looking at the currently listed system requirements DirectX 11 and OpenGL 4. However, the same requirements are listed for ETS2, so it could be still using Direct3D 9 renderer, like ETS2.

Same exact engine as ETS2, so the game will still be using DX9.

Right now, I don't see any benefits to DX12, let alone 11 currently. I've read reports that nVidia is having some issues with certain GPU's with DX12 that's actually degrading performance, where AMD is surpassing. If this is the case, then well.. I'm staying on Windows 7. Oh wait, I'm doing that anyway because I REALLY hate what M$ is doing with Windows 10 anyway.

DX9 is a prehistoric renderer. ETS2 is seriously bottlenecked by it. It does not utilize multi-core CPUs properly, and high-end GPUs can only be used to push the resolution, not the framerate.
I will be very disappointed if ATS uses DX9.

Unfortunately, those are the facts. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

So far, I haven't see any sort of announcements if they ever intend to upgrade the DX renderer.
Very few own DX12 machines (aka windows 10) and DX 9 still got legs and very are still improving ETS2 even with dx9 engine.

think of GTA IV and GTA V, same engine but do they both use DX10/11/12? (i dont know, never played IV but its just a theoretical comparison here)

GTA4 is DX9, GTA5 can use up to DX11.

I dunno why, since upgrade to win10 is free. I'm using win10 atm and i can say it is upgraded win7 with a bit better performance. Even on my calculator it works better than win 7 and provides a bit higher fps in games.

i have the free windows 10 upgrade should i do it

Basically, whole win 10 is upgraded win 7. So its up on you,to decide
TwinShadow 15/set./2015 às 18:28
I recommend against Windows 10, at least for now. Microsoft is trying to pull something by giving out Windows 10 for free, which is a bit of a red flag that they're trying to do something potentially shady. Plus, its a massive privacy invasion as well. (Before anyone says, there are more things to turn off after you install the OS. I would know because I run it in a VM.)

I have other reasons, but those are irrelevant to the typical consumer because I'm a power user and like control over the OS in general.

Whether or not you upgrade is completely up to you. However, I just don't recommend it at the current time.

After seeing the interview done with dev Pavel Sebor with SCS, this is the same game as ETS, just different models of everything. So if they do DX12 it will be for both games. But I really don't see the point in using Dx12 since there really isn't that many things happening to push the bounds of graphics. But regardless they still need to update from DX9.
Heres the interview

dx 12 is not needed anyways just figure talking about it waste of time.
TwinShadow 6/out./2015 às 22:02
I'd like to see DX11 at most for now, in terms of support, while keeping the DX9 renderer there. DX12 would be useless for the majority of users anyway since not everyone is going to upgrade immediately to Windows 10 anyway, and I for sure won't for months and months to come, maybe never.

Are you serious? The game has some major framerate problems inside cities or in the rain, mostly in the in-cab view with mirrors. On the Hungary map I get drops even below 30 FPS on a GTX 970.
The engine is optimized for ancient hardware and it sucks at multithreading. My Core i7 is barely used, but I get framerate drops with low GPU usage, which indicates the game is limited by singlethreaded performance.
A 1-core 7 GHz CPU would be way better than a 4-core 3.5 GHz CPU, and that just means the engine needs an overhaul. It is 2015, multithreading is standard in every game these days.
