Lighting issues after 1.40 update.
After Update 1.40 to the lighting system my game has been not very enjoyable. the biggest problem i have is during night time lights are overly bright and the reflection off the ground from all vehicles are something out of a 2000's game. same thing with traffic lights. beacons work and are overly bright same kind of reflection off objects like rest of lights. but during the day time. the beacons don't work at all and the lights on all vehicles seem not to work or flash. I have tried adjusting settings and nothing works all the same. did not have this issue with old version of the game.

How about you guys that get on this mod issues line of thinking just accept the fact that the new lighting is pure trash? Because that's what it is. The game is no longer enjoyable. Day nukes my eyeballs and night is so dark. I drove actual big rigs for 14 years across all the western US and Canada. This lighting update took a step BACK from what it really looks like. It's garbage. I won't be buying anymore content and haven't played since I realized they ruined it. This was my favourite thing on my PC for the longest time, but like all good things, someone has to ruin it trying to just "feel productive" ... ffs fix the unrealistic trains or do something usefull ATS... this is trash.

The lighting has issues yes, but non updated mods make them worse.

I've seen the same thing, without mods. Also do not understand why everyone was saying the headlights were crap at night. I never saw that with my previous GT1030, nor do I see it with the GTX1650 Super I have now. I have to wonder if it's the way the game addresses certain hardware, like say, maybe the way it communicates with ATI cards causes issues with Nvidia and vice versa?I mean, yeah, logically it shouldn't make a difference but you never know with driver updates and such.

Also wonder if some folks aren't seeing an issue with RGB Limited vs RGB Full, depending on the monitor they use. Because one will be darker vs the other. To explain, RGB Full uses a color palette ranging 0-255, vs RGB Limited uses only 0-235. This means a lot of colors will look darker in Limited mode vs Full. Also, some deeper shades of black will appear grey instead of black. I believe a lot of cards default to Limited if the software is unsure which the monitor supports, and if trying to display full on a monitor / TV that can only do Limited, well, it's going to be darker. Gamma settings are another possibility.

Daytime seems fine to me, however the dashboard backlight during daytime is too dim. Nighttime is INCREDIBLY dark. Turning is near impossible at night now if the area is not illuminated by streetlights. The dashboard backlight at night is too bright as well. No mods here. On an Nvidia 970.

Until it clouds over, begins to rain, and day time seems just a bit darker. Headlights don't really do much during day time hours, even if it's kind of a darker sky due to weather.

nights are actually brighter for me and don't have the blackness it used to be.
now it's like after some kind of Apocalypse and everything is covered in ashes...

The big problem for me is when you drive over concrete, it's so washed out you can't see the lines, can't tell what lane you're in. By the way, I don't and have never used graphic mods.
A lot people that don't use mods are complaining, so it can't be just a mod problem.
I have over 5,500 hrs in this thing and this is the first time that I have EVER rolled back to the last version because of a crappy update.

Your opinion is noted, and discarded as butt-hurt.

1.40 is trash , messed up the lighting , cant see at night too bright

I have to agree. I wonder why they chose to make changes to a 10+ year old game engine for lighting changes? Seems the community is divided on if it is better or worse. Just concentrate on new states and quit trying to upgrade an outdated turd engine.
