I LOVE driving the Kenworth W900, BUT...
Having to get pen and paper for fuel consumption calculations is a pain. The digital display of both the Volvo VNL 2014 and Peterbilt 579 show exactly how much distance you have remaining on the fuel left in the tank. The W900 takes the opposite approach, telling you how many gallons you've used for the miles you've already driven. The display does show the mpg, so I get my pen and paper to calculate how many gallons I'll need for the upcoming trip, but without the display showing how many gallons I actually have left, I've just started filling the tanks when they're about half full. That's working so far, but it's a bit disappointing that the digital display shows the opposite of what I'd like.

I really do love the W900, and it's one of the easiest trucks to drive.

Just fill up whenever you are resting at a fuel station.
I appreciate your dedication for realism, but this game is very bad for everything about fuel. Fueling below 30% tank is for me the only viable option. There are always several fuel tanks on the way.

I have fatigue turned off, so I drive all day and only sleep at night. What's been working is just keeping an eye on the fuel gauge, and filling up at the nearest pumps when it gets to half a tank or less. I just find that a lot less efficient than knowing exactly how many gallons I have in the tank, and the distance that fuel will take me. It's really the only down side to driving the W900 for me.

I just run my trucks out of fuel and then get towed to the next city. Ain't nobody got time to look at a fuel gauge.

I use this mod to know the distance remaining for the fuel remaining on the W900, its very helpful, try this.

Way back in the wayback, rule of thumb for OTR I was told was 600 miles max, better start looking around. Pay attention to the gauge but never trust it completely and your fist and fuel stick was the ultimate truth teller about the amount of diesel left.

That seems exactly what I need. Thanks!!

I've never had an issue with fuel in any truck, but I refuel every time I cross a State line (Federal Fuel Tax simulation), or between every job, if I'm not leaving one State.
- Finish a job, go get fuel, check the Load Boards, get next job.

I rarely take a job from where I deliver without leaving and returning .. it's not realistic to me to get unloaded and re-loaded immediately, unless you are a company driver, and you're at your own company, which the game does not simulate, at all. You are never employed by one Company, even in Quick jobs.

I drive a Mack Anthem with a 284-gallon tank and generally get 7 mpg towing my 28-foot reefer. I gas up at the nearest garage to wherever I'm taking the load and unless it's some Houston-to-Seattle type of long haul, anything shy of 2,000 miles and it'll go on one tank of diesel (that said, I usually gas up when I pull into one of my garages because I disabled the fatigue system and have my driver sleep at night and depart in the morning manually.)

Thanks again, this mod has the added bonus of having a larger display of the cruise setting, so I don't have to squint or use the zoom to read it.

A larger fuel tank seems the only advantage of having a sleeper cab. I usually deck out a day cab, but those have limited fuel tanks. That mod kanth_f1 suggested was spot on, exactly what I needed/wanted.

I am glad that it helped you out, also if you want a mod that displays information of fuel, cruise speed, current speed, gear to be displayed on your windscreen on any truck, you can try this mod too, works like a charm as hopping from one truck to another takes time to get used to seeing through the info display available for any particular truck as each truck has its own individual font system, but this mod has a uniform font for any truck you drive.

I prefer smaller, more maneuverable trucks as a general rule (I drive a 4x2 Scanis S in ETS2 and it has a 1,290-liter/341 US gallon tank!) but it's hard to argue with 284 gallons for a set-and-forget trip on the interstate.
