There are nicer solutions, and there are worse solutions. You can buy some for very low cost that are 3D printed with ugly switches to match the price point, or you can go $100-200 finding a beautiful Eaton look-a-like. I went with the following link... which has since been altered and shows a different product.

but this link looks more like what I have now.

Should fit most shifters with an 8-10mm shaft. Here's a picture of its current home(mounted to a HORI Truck Control System shifter):

Now others in the past have found ways to use H-shifter while on an Xbox Controller, but I wouldn't recommend it. These guys did just that some years ago, and I've heard it hasn't improved much since then. Probably best to just wait until you have a wheel pedals and shifter before bothering. You also don't need a fancy shift knob. The game supports just using a keypad or keyboard button to change the shift range.

The game does not support H-shifting on a controller normally.
Edit: Although... I guess you could assign buttons to the different H-shifter positions(under Controls, not keybinds) and hold the button to stay in gear. You *could* do that, but that sounds like pain. If you have a USB encoder type device(that can be seen a gamepad), you could wire in a switch to act as an h-shifter. I did that once for a jake brake when I only had a racing wheel.
Ah fair enough, It's a bummer I can't just use the same buttons I use now for sequential (X and B), but have it require the use of the clutch being pressed in. Because my flight rudder pedals work perfectly. Shows full range and everything.
Now when buying a splitter/range mod for whatever shifter I get (Likely MOZA, although your HORI system looks nice as well, might need to look ingo that), how do you know which size to get? You say it should fit most shifters with an 8-10mm. The Moza is 12cm, but that HORI looks to be right at 10. I may go with that as I like the extra buttons.
Also, The truck inside your case is great! XD XD
Also looking at the HORI package (Great price btw), looks like it has range and splitter functionality already built onto the stick, did it not work to your liking or something?
*shrug* I lucked out and found a knob that's sold as compatible for my G29. That made it easy. I'm sure if you had to, you could go to a hardware store and find some threaded rod with the right dimensions to adapt up or down as needed. Probably best to just pay attention to listings or find Youtube channels showing such accessories and see what they've got them attached to. A lot of options available.
Thanks. It's not in the case anymore for space reasons, but I've got quite a few trucks/trailers hiding around it. Feel like I'm kind of hijacking the thread.
I already had the other knob for use with my G29 is one reason. The HORI switches just don't feel very quality or correct for an American style truck. I'm used to the big flat flippy floppy switches. The HORI one just doesn't have that feeling of driving a real truck. So I took the base apart, pulled the knob off and removed the wiring, then adapted my knob to it. The HORI shaft was actually much smaller, so had to adapt it up using thin rubber fuel line. Wasn't difficult. It also raises the height, which means a further throw, which makes it feel more like a real truck and not a small car.
Hope you get some MOZA specific responses soon. I debated between MOZA with TSW wheel, but I wasn't ready to drop that much money with the upcoming hardware releases. Gotta choose your money loss.
Speaking of upcoming hardware releases. Is there much information on the MOZA truck bundle that's supposed to release soon? Is this the hardware releases you were talking about or is there some other nice stuff on the horizon? Perhaps I'll wait a bit. Have some links to some nice toys I can look at?
Ah fair enough.
