Start very, very slowly in 4th gear. Don't shift below it, and stop at 10th gear.

other than the above response, semi trucks don't have 6 gears like cars, they have 12-18 gears otherwise they would not be able to haul anything.

There is a 6 speed but you need to be level 10 or so to buy it. Have not tried it. All else fails use real auto. I am struggling myself, but part of the fun. Had to assign two buttons for splittlers to get 18 out of 6 speed shifter.

The Allison 4500, unlocked at level 14 has 6 spds.

I find the six speed to be more for the straight and flat lands because their is very little torque to pull with expecailly at the middle to end of the gear. Since its a six speed there is almost no downshifting to try to get the extra torque and horspower for pulling uphill. I tried this the other day I put on the Allison six speed with retarder and the Cummins 550hp. First trailer I wanted to try this on was a heavy one. Found one that was 44300, perfect. I knew it was a bad I idea when I first when to try and gun it when I left the company parking lot. It felt gutless. It got worse when I got out of town on some of the hills in the back country. I didn't know If I was going to have to call the towtruck to get me or not. Once I got on some flat land it would perform better, but hills kills it.

So honestly for the area we currently have to drive in I wouldn't recommend it at all. Once the Midwest opens up with almost nothing but flat land, I can see it working great there.
