The quality of ATS far better than ETS2 now in content and accuracy. Nevada looks like I remember driving thru it.

I saw ATS video between Wennenucca and Elko. Utah and Wyoming most parts are 80 mph speed limit on interstate. Some may prefer ATS as you can make quicker deliveries.
lol. This of course isn't a valid world size comparison. It's just comparing zoom levels of maps. The map in ATS won't be 2x smaller if you zoom in to the same level as used in ETS2's max zoom out.
Also, anyone who has trucked in ETS knows that route is never 2,700km.
Hell, I don't think any route is that long in the game!
Ok. I did some quick research. It seems ETS2's UK is actually larger, with a 1:15 compression. Vanilla Europe is at 1:19 scale, so a bit smaller. Couldn't find a ratio for Scandinavia, maybe it's also 1:19, but the cities are larger.
ATS seems to indeed have a 1:30 - 1:35 scale. I hope there was a very good reason behind this compression, because on paper ATS seems indeed twice as small as ETS2. Maybe SCS wants to finish the entire continental USA in a faster pace, rather than taking twice as many years to do that.
