Will there be european trucks in ATS?
Since the game is on the same engine adding euro trucks wouldn't take too much effrot. And it would be nice to be able to drive the favorite european trucks from ETS2 from time to time as addition to american trucks.

Stock? No. This is the US, not Europe.

Mods? Definitely.

There are european cars on American roads, and the game is a simulator so it's supposed to be somewhat realistic..

Well US Trucks and EU Trucks are bound by different laws with emissions and other technical things...

...so it is quite realistic to not have EU Trucks in the US.

Hell, UK has American Cars, but I've never seen a US Truck over here.

Probably see the Volvo VLN at some point. Plenty of those on the road in the U.S.

And there are Japanese cars on the road here in the US too, your point?

Our roads are not really cramped (at least, for the majority of the US, the New England states can get a little cramped), thus we don't really have a need for cabover trucks for OTR trucking.

When cars are imported, they are usually at least built to US standards if a company is going to sell them here in the first place.

It is the same with US Trucks in the EU.
There may be a few, but not that much that you would see them that often on the road.
Same would go with EU Trucks in the US.

It IRL come down to three things
1: the US levy’s very high rates of tax on imported trucks to protect their own domestic manufactures while at the same time imposes a 25 year exclusion as to when that tax is waved, so unless you want a 25 year old EU truck or want to go through the rigmarole of using Canada’s 15 rule then import from Canada to the US it is mostly not viable to use an EU truck in the US, unless you are going to use it for a highly specialised purpose &/or which has an import tax derogation or assembly it yourself in the US from a knockdown kit.

2: EU trucks tend to be more heavily built than there US counterparts, so have reduced payload, given most US tractor units operate at 80000lb (36.29 tonne) GTW, while EU ones operate at 40 to 44 tonne (88185lb to 97003lb) GTW and often have design GTW of 50 tonnes (110231lb) plus.

3: the US weight limits are heavily based on wheel base and bogie spread, hence why they favour long tractor units with bonnets and sleeper compartments, which is the very thing that itself that keeps most US tractor units out of the EU, given the EU length restrictions on combination length and minimum turning circle for combinations.

My point is that ATS is basically a reskin of ETS2, it even has the same menu and some of the sounds, or at least had in that one hour gameplay demo. It is a next iteration of a game, developed using same game engine. So let's say you've been playing ETS2 a lot and you already have a collection of your favorite EU trucks that you like to drive... and now you starting new game (which is 99% same as old one gameplay-wise), where you have to start developing your company over again... why not have an option to bring few of your favorite EU truck to your new american company. Just as imported trucks, a little fan service for old fans. I mean Mass Effect had an option to bring your old character/gear to the new game and it was cool feature. Plus because of the same engine it's basically a drag&drop operation:D

No it's not. For all we know there might be a bunch of new features specific to ATS that aren't present in ETS2 (especially features sepcific to the types of trucks ATS will use); this means that any trucks from ETS2 would have to be updated to fit ATS and not crash the game. I highly doubt it'd be as simple as just a drag & drop.

EDIT: Also that gameplay video you saw was an old version of the closed beta, so I wouldn't go by that. Best to just see when the game comes out

This is most likely a licensing issue. SCS got licenses from Scania, DAF and all the rest to put them in ETS 2. In order to put those trucks into ATS, it would likely involve getting a second license which probably wouldn't make sense for the companies involved, seeing as how it's not within their market.

It's unfortunate, but that's business. When you start dealing with real-world brands there are certain limitations that you have to live with.

Yes I know that gameplay video was old. Well, I guess we'll just have to wait for 3 more weeks to find out everything :D

Acredito que o ATS ficará perfeito se for possível essa integração. Eu particularmente prefiro os caminhões europeus, nada contra os caminhões americanos, é só uma questão de preferência mesmo.
