Anyone playing with Xbox controller + head tracking device?
I see almost everyone who is using head tracking is playing with steering wheel. I plan to buy steering wheel in the future, but I thought would it be comfortable to play with controller and head tracking? Especially when head tracking is cheap and easy obtainable (thanks to you forum guys for info). Isn't that setup distracting? I mean, it seems to easy to accidentially pull of the road when you look around and play with a controller.

I bought headtracking before I bought my wheel. Used a 360 controller for ages and it just worked out. Having to focus on slow controller steering, and camera movement, too much for me. But here we are 6 years later(wow time flies) and I mostly just use my wheel without headtracking on a single 40" TV instead.

In short: Headtracking works for all playstyles and setups. Even keyboard controls, may as well use headtracking so it's one less thing you have to focus on. Have fun. :letsgo:

Ditto, before I could afford my wheel+pedals+shifter set I played both, ATS and ETS2, for a very long while using a wireless Xbox 360 controller, Face Track No IR and Voice Attack. Very enjoyable.

I mean, I have a controller but not an XBox controller. But I wouldn't really recommend it. Better option is always a wheel. Well... If you have enough money to waste or just buy a cheap one. Got mine for under 100€.

Me in my humble simplicity and lack of money at 62 I have fun and do well with the mouse as the steering wheel and the rest of the controls on the keyboard, I don't even know what you are talking about.

Yep, I use most of the time that way. I use a wireless XBOX One Controller and a tobii 4c head/eyetracker.
I do have a G27 wheel but cannot be bothered the majority of time to dig it out and set it up.
I have tried triple monitor setup as well as various other headtrackers, such ans hattrack and others that use your phone but for me it is the tobii that gives me what I want in this game, I prefer having the game on a single monitor and turning my head to look out the side windows and just looking with my eyes for the mirrors.

That's my main issue. Either the wheel stays mounted to my desk for several months unused, or it gets put in the basement for several months because I don't want to dig it out and hook it up.

Same reason I haven't used my headtracking in so long. Keeping it hooked up + attaching it to my headset is just too much for the little benefits.

This is head tracking with TrackIr.

Just in case you haven’t seen it (I have been playing from launch and somehow missed it until late last year) there is an option to change how much the camera looks left and right when you steer. There’s also one that causes you to turn your head quite a ways left or right when you turn the signals on.

Nowhere as versatile as head tracking but I was really happy when I found this setting!

Buy a wheel. Cheap used on facebook marketplace, craigslist, ebay etc if necessary. BY FAR the most important peripheral even more than head tracking.

Done and done

I use an Xbox One controller and the puck IR tracker from Grassmonkey simulations. Having lots of fun. They work great together

Once you get a steering wheel and trackIR there is no going back in my opinion. I'd rather never start the game up again if I had to go back to a controller or a keyboard. Even having a steering wheel without trackIR is bad.
