Missing or corrupted profiles [FIXED]

We received confirmation from Valve that the Steam client now includes fix for this Steam Cloud issue so new corruptions should not happen regardless of the game beta branch you are using and you can switch profiles back to the cloud mode if you switched them to the local mode as a workaround.

If you still have some older corrupted profiles or saves, for example in a backup, you can fix them by either loading them in 1.41+ version of the game or using the fixing tool which can be downloaded from:

For ATS:

For ETS2:

1. Unzip the content to any directory (e.g. new directory on the desktop)
   
2. Ensure that Steam client is running logged in to the Steam account you want to fix
   
3. Ensure that the game is not running
   
4. Run the steam_cloud_profile_fixer.exe. It will attempt to fix all corrupted sii files in both the game local files and ATS Steam cloud. It will generate a steam_cloud_profile_fixer.log which you can inspect to see which files were fixed.
   
5. Delete unzipped files (steam_cloud_profile_fixer.exe, steam_api.dll, steam_appid.txt) and steam_cloud_profile_fixer.log when you are done.
   
6. Note that fixing the profile will make it available in the game UI. If you created another profile in the meantime, you might need to select the fixed profile from the dropdown on the Launchpad screen or using the Manage Profiles screen

1. Unzip the content to directory which contains directories with the corrupted files:
   
   • For local copy of files, for example if you want to fix profile backup files or if you already revived the profile using backup copy of profile.sii file and you want to fix some save, unzip it to

     <Documents>\American Truck Simulator\

     .
   • For Steam cloud copy of files unzip it to

     <steam_install_dir>\userdata\<userid>\227300\

     for ETS2 or

     <steam_install_dir>\userdata\<userid>\270880\

     for ATS
2. While the tool will only modify corrupted .sii files, it is still a good idea to create a backup copy of those directories if something goes wrong.
   
3. Run the steam_cloud_profile_fixer.exe. It will attempt to fix all corrupted sii files in that directory and its subdirectories. It will generate a steam_cloud_profile_fixer.log which you can inspect to see which files were fixed.
   
4. Delete both steam_cloud_profile_fixer.exe and steam_cloud_profile_fixer.log when you are done.

I think we should just wait until the developer fixes this......I'm not going to waste my time on all this. ATS is what Im looking for, I did go through the steps but its different names for ETS.

These instructions didn't help me, either. I have to keep creating a new profile and when I save it the saved game image says Texture Not Found instead of the ATS logo or screenshot. Next time I load up the game profile is gone again.

I did make a new account btw just to see what would happen. I did put MODs on, and none of them work. But I'm going to stick to my main account.

I opened ATS yesterday to find my main profile gone, and all my mods we deselect, they were all working the day before and the profile was fine, lost all my progress of 442 days, money, fleet, and drivers just gone!
Do you think this fix can recover those, and which folder do I need to look in to find an elusive corrupt fils?,

lost all my new files. i can load the game but when i try loading my last saved game its gone and all my saved games went back to 2019 saves. i did try this and didn't work just when to game and realized my profile is missing too

Tried the fixer download to no avail, really pisses me off about losing the profile, my shifter had to be programmed, and I can’t even get it to work right now!

Any word yet on when this will be fixed, the download didn't work. Not only can I not find my current profile, I can't create a new one as I get a error stating "Cannot create Steam profile with the given name because there is already Steam profile with that name."

I e mailed them regarding the issue and peoples profiles and they replied back to me earlier...Here's what they said to me.

unfortunately the last update to Steam client introduced a bug in the API we are using to store the cloud saves which might sometimes lead to corrupted saves or profiles which will be then ignored by the game.

To avoid that issue from re-appearing until Valve fixes it or we introduce some workaround, the profile should be switched to non-cloud mode using the in-game profile edit UI. Disabling the cloud in Steam client is not sufficient as that just disables upload to the Steam cloud, not use of the problematic API.

I am glad to know you guys and gals are aware of this error. I will wait until its been resolved as I have a good 900 hours worth of work I really dont want to start from scratch and looking at the comments the quick fix isnt working

I just now figued it out, took me a minute. For some people are saying its working and some are not. All I did was chose the oldest date folder, you basically have to put the tool in the file ending in ***\270880\ Run just the tool by itself, once you do that, a Log will appear with a notes icon. Delete both of those, load up the game and your good to go. Let me know how it works.

Valve is the only one who can provide a time frame as this is a Steam bug, not a game bug.

The above solution worked. I had to make a new company profile then I could select my main save through the change driver profile.
