Pico 4

To change the 45 degree user interface ingame, go to DOCUMENTS , then look for American Truck Simulator, scroll down to config.cfg and open, change the following to 0.0 r_manual_stereo_ui_y & r_manual_stereo_ui_pitch close the file and save.
With the game flickering in VR and not running so well, I started the game, went into options, graphics and turned off TAA, SUPERSAMPLING , OFF or DISABLED, not sure if this makes a difference but lowered the resolution to 1920x1080 and left everything else as is and confirm or apply the changes.
Back to the game and it seemed to run fine, for me anyway.
Hope this helps.
If only the devs cared about VR as much as you do. Thank you!

The Beta VR Branch is native as far as i know.
It is just not maintained as a stable branch (the userbase of vr for this game would be quite too low to justify that i assume).
No probs, glad it worked for you. I find it hard to play it flatscreen personally.
