1.50 horrible performance in VR
1.50 just got done installing and I play exclusively in VR. Crashed a couple of times when trying to load into profile, but figured that was the mods I had installed. Removed ALL mods, still crashing.

Created a new profile and was finally able to get into the game. Got to the menu, set everything up and clicked "Drive". Loaded into the truck and after mapping all my buttons again, put it into drive and started moving. HUGE MISTAKE!! It is a jerking mess and is absolutely unplayable.

I have a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, RTX 4090, 32GB RAM, 4TB NVMe SSD, and even setting everything to the LOWEST graphics settings and turning off AA, it is still the same thing. In the pause menu it looks normal, but when actually driving it is huge stuttering/jerking. 1.49 was working amazing and now I get to not play this until this is fixed.

I was able to rollback to "oculus_previous - Oculus+OpenVR - 1.49" and everything is working nicely again. Hopefully SCS puts some work into 1.50 to resolve these issues and hopefully gives a little love to us VR players

VR is not officially supported, you will have to stay on 1.49 until the VR version gets updated by the devs who code it.

Have you updated the launch options? Also if you use OpenXR Toolkit, try disabling that. There are reports of it causing issues for some people. Since it launches doesn't sound like you're using Snowymoon's TAA mod, if you are or any other make sure to delete those files.

I had to switch from -openvr to -openxr for my launch options. THen I had to go through and readjust all my graphic settings. But VR DOES work. I get better VR performance with 1.5 then I did with 1.49. It also fixed the god awful VR mirror bug for the left mirror I was having.

I'm using a Quest 3 with Virtual Desktop and use -openvr for my option. I don't use OpenXR Toolkit and I think 1.49 looked pretty good (other than shadows) in VR with all my settings at High and getting 90 fps.

In 1.50 in the menu (even though it is at a 45 degree angle downward vs straight in front of me) with the camera moving around the truck it is smooth and when sitting still in the truck I can look around with no issues. As soon as I start moving though, it is a rubberbanding nightmare.

So i believe i found the solution to everyones rubberbanding problem in vr. If you go to Documents/American Truck Simulator/ folder then open the config file there. If youre using Notepad++ on line 222/near the bottom if youre not, you will see the line "uset t_ignore_hmd_timing "0"". Change the 0 to a 1 and save the file. This has worked for me using my Reverb G2

Also for the 45 degree angled menus in that same config file look for a line that says uset r_manual_stereo_ui_pitch "-30.0" and uset r_manual_stereo_ui_y "-0.5" and change both numbers to 0.0 and the menus should go back to normal.

That fixed it!

Thanks!

The game is worse! I had to lower my graphics settings to get the same 60 fps. Stuttering is WORSE THAN EVER!

What's going on with the update? All the buildings, road arrows, etc. are pink and purple. Any ideas?

I've never had good VR performance in this game. Ever. Always unplayable garbage.

For VR , right click ATS, PROPERTIES, GENERAL and then scroll down to LAUNCH OPTIONS and type in the advanced users box -openxr and close the window.

To change the 45 degree user interface ingame, go to DOCUMENTS , then look for American Truck Simulator, scroll down to config.cfg and open, change the following to 0.0 r_manual_stereo_ui_y & r_manual_stereo_ui_pitch close the file and save.

With the game flickering in VR and not running so well, I started the game, went into options, graphics and turned off TAA, SUPERSAMPLING , OFF or DISABLED, not sure if this makes a difference but lowered the resolution to 1920x1080 and left everything else as is and confirm or apply the changes.
Back to the game and it seemed to run fine, for me anyway.
Hope this helps.

I'm getting the jerking framerate as well and I exclusively play this game in VR.. PLEASE YOU GUYS.. Tweet to @SCSSoftware otherwise, I feel like they won't listen to any of this. VR really needs to be put into priority and not backseated, because I enjoy streaming this as well and things have been fine for a year all the way to this point. I really don't want the VR aspect of this game to be forgotten and just ignored by the devs, we have to voice out or this could be the end of ATS in VR. I would just stop playing after that.
