"Tires"
What are the best tires for the least amount of damage incurred while driving? I'v been using the "Vortex" tires and yet I can drive ten miles and get some damage. I stay off the shoulder of the roads so I can't blame the damage on that.

Suggestions?

Tires don't cause or prevent damage.

It's simply wear and tear. Even in real life tires degrade over time.

True, tires wear over time but they do wear too quickly in ATS. The repair costs when going to the repair shop should only include costs for tires when they are in need of replacement. Paying damage fees on tires at every repair stop is a bit overkill. That being said, the amount of cash earned on each load more than covers those ridiculous tire costs.

It's just to simulate wear and tear. I suppose there could be a better way to handle it? Maybe allow the tires to get up to 50% worn before requiring a full tire replacement? Although, the cost would be much higher to replace those truck tires than a modest fee to 'repair' them.

I was referring to tire damage. Sorry for not being more clear about that.

Thanks guys! I know that even in real life that tires wear and that it is just a fact of trucking. I was just looking for a way to minimize the wear and tear in the game.

Thanks again!

If you want to minimize wear and tear, have you ever delved into modding? It would be quite easy to adjust the amount that tires wear down.

Personally I don't worry about wear and tear, damage or fines. These games give you such ridiculous amounts of money that there is no need to worry about any of that. No matter what you do you are going to have millions of dollars in the bank with nothing to spend it on in short order..

Actually you're wrong ... At least in Europe we have tools for making those water canals (i don't know actual name for this) deeper, and you can renew the tyre.

They're called tread. In North American, we have a thing called retread. (or recap) That's where the worn out tread is buffed away and a new tread and bonded to the tire body.

That's absolutely correct! Although they are cheaper than new tires, if not not done properly they can disintegrate under the weight and high heat. I've seen it happen on more than one occasion. I have also seen what happens when the disintegrated tire hits traffic behind the rig. Messy, messy!

When you repair your truck, uncheck wheels. Depending on various things, wheels/tires a good up to 35-50% damage.
