The more experience they have, the more money they will earn. It takes time for the driver to get "settled" and it also takes time for them to level up in experience points. You can go into your driver manager and change what skills they earn, otherwise they will have an even balance of each skill. Some skill points like ADR and long distance are better to earn earlier in the game for your drivers.

Thanks very much.

Always hire drivers with zero points in Fuel Economy. (its useless when they start out).

Focus on training points that unlock differnt kinds of jobs (under drivers where it says "balanced", change the drop down box to a different skill)

2-3points in long distance, 1 point in High Value, 1 point Fragile, 2 points just in time, 1 point in Haz mats (ADR's) should be a great baseline with lots of jobs available. (go for that in any order you choose).

That should get you about $1500-$3000/day for each driver.

I second this... ADR and long distance, then fragile and high value...

Does it matter in ATS what kind of truck each driver has?

If I remember right, it does *not* matter in ETS2, so the best option is to buy the cheapest truck.

Is that true in ATS as well?

Truck quality does matter in ETS2 now, and is believed to be the same in ATS.

Hire them, give them a truck. they will make money. That's all there really is to it..

Hey, just sayin, it takes awhile. in my opinion., its a good idea to take a loan out and hire a few drivers with trucks in the beginning, so its like a seed that will take time to grow. ive got about 6 hired drivers, and half of them bring in about 5 to 6k a job. They have about 2 to 4 upgrades per slot. Except fuel conservation. that one is saved for last. Average is about 2k a job. Also make sure to give them a nice truck with an upgraded engine, they'll work faster. If you give them a straight vanilla truck with no upgrades theyll be very slow.

I've been training all mine in long distance. The way I figure it, the further they can drive, the more jobs become available.

They all have the same spec truck which is the same as mine except a slightly less powerful engine and a 13 speed gearbox.

Yes and no. More of the longer distance jobs will become available, however, none of the other types will be. Your drivers take a job leaving their home city to where-ever. Once there, they must take a job returning to their home city. If they don't have Fragile, High Value or Important/Urgent jobs available to them, the chance of not finding a return job increases.

Also, with the current size of the map, anything more than 3 points in LD is just overkill, for you or your drivers.

Hey a problem with that, it will take them longer to do a job, and you wont get a large profit, there for you will get money from them slower. since they will get the bottom rung of jobs without fragile, high value, and timely job bonus's. It'd be better to have no long distance and lots of high value, fragile, and timely, because it'll be faster with a lot of bonuses.

I find the best way to do it is if you buy 3 trucks hire 3 drivers. You can go back to quick jobs for almost the same amount of money with no worry about repair bills for wear and tear. You dont need to worry about fuel. You dont need to worry about time managment, running from place to place trying to pick loads. Just get in and cruise.

This is exactly my plan. I am still interested in some actual evidence of whether a better truck helps AI drivers be more productive.
