We can't see past our stacks!
Is there a modder out there who is up to fixing the interior view of the Kenworth w900l? We just need a few more inches of reach when we turn our heads outside the truck when backing. There are really nice mods for bigger and better stacks on this truck but they are pretty much not usable because of this tiny problem. Please help if you can.

I refuse to upgrade the exhaust because of this. I have gotten used to the stock pipes being a little in the way, but nothing like the upgrade.

Ever drive a w900? because thats pretty much true to life, have to open the door and hang out it to see around those stacks
Crash Mar 4, 2016 @ 12:16am
that is a fact. real KW...have to hang out...even worked with some drivers would put in reverse and step out on top step to see around stacks, while annoying, it is the way that truck is designed, Paccar isnt going to let them change their truck model....just learn to deal with it, as if you were really driving that truck...that is what everybody i see complaing always saying..add this.... add that lik,e in real ilfe..well there u go!

if you get the smaller stacks you can see :)

Create a new folder in your ATS mod folder, call it what you like but I'll use 'adjust.w900_interiorview_rear' here. Inside that folder, create the following directory tree:

adjust.w900_interiorview_rear -> def -> camera -> units

Inside the 'units' folder create a new text document, call it:
interior_kenworth_w900.sii

Inside that document, paste the following:
vehicle_interior_camera: camera.interior.kenworth.w900 { # basic def START head_offset: (0.0, 0.0, 0.0) mouse_right_limit: -190 mouse_left_limit: 230 mouse_up_limit: 85 mouse_down_limit: -70 camera_fov: 70 stereo_convergence: 0.44 near_plane: 0.2 far_plane: 1600 mouse_sensitivity: 0.3 # basic def END mouse_up_down_default: -3 shake_anim_step: 0.015 shake_anim_scale_min: 0.0008 shake_anim_scale_max: 0.01 shake_anim[]: (-0.0581639,-0.243802,0.375891) shake_anim[]: (-0.9445,-1.27531,1.32335) shake_anim[]: (-0.590479,-1.22611,1.0421) shake_anim[]: (-0.998866,-0.291616,-0.50758) shake_anim[]: (0,0,0) shake_anim[]: (2.04924,1.5059,1.24094) shake_anim[]: (2.17753,2.35703,1.18031) shake_anim[]: (1.38745,2.92975,0.647993) shake_anim[]: (0.342338,0.696978,-0.219261) shake_anim[]: (0,0,0) shake_anim[]: (0.217603,-1.99907,-0.170412) shake_anim[]: (-0.391712,-2.20946,-0.665008) shake_anim[]: (-0.184629,-1.66025,-0.310759) shake_anim[]: (-0.00937454,-0.583986,0.0791465) shake_anim[]: (0,0,0) shake_anim[]: (0.134371,0.429192,0.0073652) shake_anim[]: (0.119819,0.528947,0.577297) shake_anim[]: (0.118208,0.174448,0.567321) shake_anim[]: (-0.160733,0.170815,0.358096) shake_anim[]: (0,0,0) shake_anim[]: (0.147667,-0.0925476,-0.176833) shake_anim[]: (0.118013,0.0182714,-0.0923972) shake_anim[]: (0.00812901,0.0384921,-0.0889907) shake_anim[]: (-0.0130762,-0.0010251,-0.0179988) shake_anim[]: (0,0,0) shake_anim[]: (0.00913631,-0.000334663,-0.0130952) shake_anim[]: (0.00279858,-0.00609403,-0.000160845) shake_anim[]: (0.000800094,-0.00396091,-0.000741665) shake_anim[]: (-9.00386e-005,-0.000731371,0.000466767) shake_anim[]: (0,0,0) azimuth_overrides[]: _nameless.interior.kenworth.w900.left1 azimuth_overrides[]: _nameless.interior.kenworth.w900.left2 azimuth_overrides[]: _nameless.interior.kenworth.w900.left3 azimuth_overrides[]: _nameless.interior.kenworth.w900.left4 azimuth_overrides[]: _nameless.interior.kenworth.w900.left5 azimuth_overrides[]: _nameless.interior.kenworth.w900.right1 azimuth_overrides[]: _nameless.interior.kenworth.w900.right2 } camera_azimuth_range: _nameless.interior.kenworth.w900.left1 { start_azimuth: 30 end_azimuth: 60 outside: false start_up_limit: 85 end_up_limit: 85 start_down_limit: -70 end_down_limit: -70 start_up_down_default: -9.5 end_up_down_default: -7 start_left_right_default: 0 end_left_right_default: 0 start_head_offset_offset: (0.0, 0.0, 0.0) end_head_offset_offset: (0.0, 0.0, -0.2) } camera_azimuth_range: _nameless.interior.kenworth.w900.left2 { start_azimuth: 60 end_azimuth: 90 outside: false start_up_limit: 85 end_up_limit: 85 start_down_limit: -70 end_down_limit: -70 start_up_down_default: -9.5 end_up_down_default: -7 start_left_right_default: 0 end_left_right_default: 0 start_head_offset_offset: (0.0, 0.0, -0.2) end_head_offset_offset: (-0.55, 0.0, -0.55) } camera_azimuth_range: _nameless.interior.kenworth.w900.left3 { start_azimuth: 90 end_azimuth: 100 outside: false start_up_limit: 85 end_up_limit: 85 start_down_limit: -70 end_down_limit: -70 start_up_down_default: -7 end_up_down_default: -7 start_left_right_default: 0 end_left_right_default: 155 start_head_offset_offset: (-0.55, 0.0, -0.55) end_head_offset_offset: (-0.55, 0.0, -0.4) } camera_azimuth_range: _nameless.interior.kenworth.w900.left4 { start_azimuth: 100 end_azimuth: 115 outside: true start_up_limit: 85 end_up_limit: 85 start_down_limit: -70 end_down_limit: -70 start_up_down_default: -7 end_up_down_default: -7 start_left_right_default: 155 end_left_right_default: 155 start_head_offset_offset: (-0.55, 0.0, -0.4) end_head_offset_offset: (-0.75, 0.0, -0.4) } camera_azimuth_range: _nameless.interior.kenworth.w900.left5 { start_azimuth: 115 # end_azimuth: 190 end_azimuth: 230 outside: true start_up_limit: 85 end_up_limit: 85 start_down_limit: -70 end_down_limit: -70 start_up_down_default: -20 end_up_down_default: -20 start_left_right_default: 180 end_left_right_default: 180 start_head_offset_offset: (-0.75, 0.0, -0.4) # end_head_offset_offset: (-0.85, 0.0, -0.4) end_head_offset_offset: (-1.2, 0, -0.1) } camera_azimuth_range: _nameless.interior.kenworth.w900.right1 { start_azimuth: -30 end_azimuth: -90 outside: false start_up_limit: 85 end_up_limit: 85 start_down_limit: -70 end_down_limit: -70 start_up_down_default: -9.5 end_up_down_default: -7 start_left_right_default: 0 end_left_right_default: 0 start_head_offset_offset: (0.0, 0.0, 0.0) end_head_offset_offset: (0.1, 0.0, -0.4) } camera_azimuth_range: _nameless.interior.kenworth.w900.right2 { start_azimuth: -90 end_azimuth: -230 outside: false start_up_limit: 85 end_up_limit: 85 start_down_limit: -70 end_down_limit: -70 start_up_down_default: -9.5 end_up_down_default: -7 start_left_right_default: 0 end_left_right_default: 0 start_head_offset_offset: (0.1, 0.0, -0.4) end_head_offset_offset: (0.2, 0.0, -0.2) }

Activate it in the mod manager for the profile(s) you want to use it with. This edited view definition pushes the view out a few centimetres to a total offset of 1.2m in the last few degrees of the rearward head turn.

Of course, the easier thing to do is just use the discrete rear view and be done with it but who am I to stand in the way of people wanting to use their mouse to look around? :P

The above view definition does a couple other things too since it's just a direct copy of my own version with the added view offset changes. Specifically, it increases left & right rear view rotation limits a little and increases up and down rotation limits a fair little bit.

That's pretty much how a W900 is, you have to adjust your mirrors and seat and get a good view. Go sit in a real one and you'll see

Number 5 on keyboard, gives you a better view you may be able to use.
Thats why I drive the T600 or the 800. (Offline mod)

W900 just not the truck for me.

I love the look of the classic trucks, and for a short haul truck it might make sense, but there is a reason you see many more of the newer style trucks on the highway...

Or use view 5. So simple.
margalus Mar 4, 2016 @ 6:32am
Use the stock mirrors and you can see the trailers past the stacks. It's only the fancy addon mirrors that block your view.

That's why I do not buy W900, which is otherwise great truck and I love to drive it. I regularly drive Peterbilt. Once I upgraded single passenger-side exhaust to double one, adding stack to the driver side, but looking back using mouse became an immediate issue (I like to see rear axels for better maneuvering). I downgraded back, and now I drive with Eco exhaust (under chassis). I don't think W900 has option to remove its stacks

Love that. Just love it.
Kenworth T908 is the same in terms of stacks being in the way.
Edited your code to point to the 908. Works like a charm.
Excellent stuff. Thanks much.

there is a walk about mod that might help with this
http://www.modsats.com/walk-camera-argosy-v1-1-mod/
it takes a bit getting used to while driving but once you get the hang of it you can make good use of it when parking and such. And it gives you some unique positions to drive your truck from (for example drive it while sitting on your bed in the truck)

also..wont be a problem whwn the give us the PETE 379 or 389...then i will switch to my dream truck!..lol
