LTL and STAA Doubles request
I noticed the parcel carriers PostED(FedEX) and UDS(UPS) in the game. Both of the companies do LTL and residential deliveries. They generally use the 28.5 ft trailers (In game called Box trailer) in the STAA double form. So i was thinking there could be where you can deliver and receive loads from PostED or UDS warehouses. I think they generally have a warehouse in each region in America. So scs shouldn't go crazy with them. So 1. add doubles 2. add parcel carries that use doubles, single 28.5, and 53 ft box trailers. Sometimes they may use other trailers. If you have any suggestions or corrections please reply.:steamhappy:

This has been requested many, many times. The engine itself does not support multiple pivot points and they are well aware of how often this gets requested.

Neither ATS nor ETS2 can do STAA Doubles; only 1 pivot point is allowed, whether it's the fifth wheel of a semi-trailer truck or the trailer hitch of the tandem mod.

i understand, but im sure they are planning on fixing it. I atleast hope to see parcel carriers added for deliveries.

They talked about it once ... in 2011 and then never again.

In fact, I've read a lot of about why it wasn't added to ETS2 : 1. Europe roads are not wide enough; 2. Europe doesn't allow for double or triple because of length; 3. the game cannot handle double and triple; 4. the game can do it but it has an awful behaviour [...]

ATS is build upon ETS2 and ETS2 should catch up before something so drastic is added to either one. Everybody think it should be added. Everybody think it will be fixed ... Knowing the amount of things SCS wants to do, double and triple are somewhat last on that list.

Rats! So no turnpike doubles then (two 48' or 53' trailers).

Pretty much true. However, I think in the current form of the physics engine, I think things do get a little weird. I'm not sure because the hack that actually did spawn another trailer from an MP dev went silent on the whole thing a long time ago..

Anyway, so long as the game does not have the coding, the game won't have articulation points outside of the truck cab, and its trailer.

Oh, and that little topic on doubles from SCS before ETS2 was released pertained only to ETS2 at the time. They actually never really mentioned anything about it for ATS. I think one of the more recent interviews from Pavel may have mentioned that they could look into it. How far down the road that is, tough to say... At most for the default game, 2 28' trailers is probably all that will be included. However, mod authors can go to town with mods and have 2 53' trailers, or a 53' and 48', or whatever combination you can think of.

ATS is created from an earlier version ETS2. If any code improvement have been made for the double trailers, it would have been done on ETS2, not ATS because the opposite would have been backward. Yet, ATS have yet to catch up on ETS2 on some features and vice versa.

I'd be curious as to what features would be missing, considering ATS does have a couple exclusives compared to ETS2. So, I'd imagine some small differences can apply to gameplay between the two games, even being based on the same engine.
