Where is the Donner pass?
I feel like there not being a Donner pass takes the whole game down for me. In real life there are two major concerns about going west on I-80, One, you will enter California, a huge no-no for 60-70% of the US trucking industry, and once you do enter Cali, 9 miles west of Truckee is Donner pass, one of the most treacherous stretches of highway in the West during the winter, where tire chains are required for trucks.

And a video to make my point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_D4HPp1QsY

Yes the mountains are a let down. I know they can't do snow and ice yet, but they could do a much better job on the mountains and the passes. Hope they can make some changes at some point in the future. Still at least it's a fun brainless game.

No winter, no problem :steamhappy:
Well It doesn't even have to be winter, just coming down a big mountain, you can do 60 down it on here with no issues, where are the runaway ramps? the brake-check pullover at the top? and, obviously, getting 80,000 lbs down the other side without killing your self.

Well, you reach 60 without issues west of Truckee in the game too ;)

I looked earlier today. Donner Pass is something like 8.2 miles long. WIth the current scaling of ATS that corresponds to 2/10ths of one mile. Kind of hard to do it justice in that length of road.

Also, I find it very hard to believe that most truckers would exit interstate 80 to take a more dangerous, slower route.

Remember that this is not American Roads simulator.
P.stucki, I was talking about in the game.

And maddox, that is a good point, I guess I'm just hoping for too much.

Just be glad the do not have Cabage pass in there ...yet! They did a fair job on Donner pass. At least you can recognize it. It really would be no fun if they simulated the entire pass. Oh man! Driving from Sacramento to Reno ON A GOOD DAY, leaves me sweaty and shaky by the end. In the rain, at night, on ice, with 40 ton behind ya...well, you would be looking for that slower route..desperately! :D

I agree, the biggest let downs have been no donner pass, no grapevine, and Oakdale was somehow implemented while my hometown of Modesto was left out. But given the scale of the map, I can understand why they left them out. Maybe someday....

Looks about like what 70 can get at the Eisenhower in Colorado. The grade from the tunnel to Silverthorne is something like 6%. In the summer you see smoking brakes alot, winter is a total ♥♥♥♥ show if it snows good.
