[Bug Help] Can't get the internet radio to play?

Long time ETS2/ATS fan. The streaming radio in ETS2 was always fun, sadly I can't get it to work in ATS now that i'm on a new computer. I did install ETS2 on this new computer and it didn't work there either.

Apologies if its been answered, I've done over an hour of googling and looking up people with similar issues and I have not found a solution

Things I've tried:

• Alllowing ATS through firewall
  
• Turning firewall off
  
• Verifying game cache.
  
• Deleting stream file and updating again via internet
  
• installing K-lite basic codec pack.
  
• ATS safe mode

No luck yet. I AM able to listen to all of the streams in chrome, however, whenever I click play in ATS/ETS2 it just goes [channel name]... before jumping to the next one as it eventually cycles through all of them trying to connect.

OS: Windows 10 Pro N 64 bit

hm, that´s really strange... i know that on SOME of the stations you sometimes dont get a conection,it then cyles through to the next functional... but none of them? I am on windows 10 myself and all work fine, so that´s not it...maybe something in the pro version?

router and all is the same,just the computer is new? any new antivirus or something that might block?

I assume you have updated your radio station list in the game from the internet, yet still cannot play any of it. Is that correct?

Its in the "things I've tried section" where I say I deleted the stream file. but yes, I have.

Router may be new as of me playing again, not sure what came first. My only anti-virus is windows defender but there wearn't any notices of anything being blocked.

I opened port 8000 (apparently the streaming port for ETS2 so maybe ATS as well?) but it did not work.

i´d try deactivating everything remotely related to AV, firewalls and what ever else might block traffic,including defender... if nothing helps, try contacting SCS support... if you find out what it is, contact them, too...maybe they can tell you how to use that software together with the streams...

normally such things are being caused by firewall, router (port forwarding), AVsoftware... i´d not be able to identify anything else...

@above...is that the full log? that it failed to load we knew already ;)

Its not the full log, but there are no errors in it past that. Itsj ust "loading [stuff]"

I turned off my AV, turned off my firewall, and DMZed my IP all at the same time and it still ddin't work. So I think its safe to say nothing is getting blocked.

Those look like streams you added to the file. And if the stations aren't streaming in .mp3 format your use of the "?.mp3" at the end of the url won't help you.

Negative, I haven't added any streams to the file. I've deleted it and re-updated it (via "Update from internet" in game) multiple times though, heres the file:

LOL, sorry, for some reason I was looking in my ETS2 streams and wasn't seeing these stations. I haven't pressed the "Update From Internet" button in ATS. There weren't any streams the day it was released and I just put the 2 streams I added to ETS2 into the ATS live_streams file.

You need the router? if not just remove it and try to see if that helps, if so the problem is in your router. If it till doesn't work the problem might be in your modem as well, especially if it is an old one. I recently bought ACBF and couldn't get it to connect to the internet while everyhting else works fine. As I have a 10+ year old modem I asked my ISP a new one, figured after 10 years there is no harm in asking. Result was that my connection problem was solved as well. Always worth to take in consideration

It does give me the idea to try manually adding my own stream to see if its just the auto-generator mucking up.

Still no loading, so it doesn't seem to be a formatting issue either. Really strange! I might have to try to contact SCS

I might try plugging it straight in later today, that said the modem isn't very old at all and was the same modem I used when I played ETS2 iirc.

My router is an TP-Link Archer C7, so certainly not an old router either.

I FIXED IT!

Better late than never! Alright cya guys later! Joking, I hate people who don't say how they fixed it.

So, I had a sneaky feeling the below would be a problem as this is NOT a widespread problem.
The heart of the beast is this:

Windows 10 Pro N

That N is a special version of Windows Microsoft doesn't like to hand out but is required to by EU laws (i think?) Basically, its Windows 10 without the media stuff (windows media player). Turns out ATS/ETS2 need that to work. I was using VLC but ATS can't work with that.

The key to fixing the problem is patching the holes in the N version by downloading the feature pack:

The problem is downloading that alone did NOT fix it. I messed around for another hour trying to fix it and doing sfc /scannow and running services and all that crap. Turns out there is ANOTHER update needed after you install the above that the site doesn't mention. Thank you stack exchange, you save more than my CS homework.

You need to install that file he posts. It'll check that you have the one I linked above installed, then it'll install the entire feature pack with windows media player and all that.

Once that was installed, ATS radio works fine.

Note that my windows was up to date when I did this. Future updates of windows may change what files you need.
