So I bought trucks too early in the game
I bought 2 trucks and hired 1 driver plus upgraded my shop once. Now I'm having a hell of a time staying out of debt. Is there a way to sell 1 truck and leave the hired driver drive the other while I pick up side jobs?

You can sell a truck from the truck manager and relocate the other truck to the garage slot with the hired driver. I wouldn't suggest taking the quick jobs to get out of debt because the frieght market pays more. Also the hired driver is going to take a while to lvl up and start bringing in a lot of money so you might want to sell a truck and let the driver go for now (if you leave a driver without a truck for too long they will quit)

You should be able to sell you truck at the dealer, but since you took a loan it's not going to help much, you will get only 50% of truck cost back. Try Quick Jobs before selling, Fright Market pays more but you have to plan more as well

I seem to remember sacking drivers and selling their rigs in ETS2, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do so in ATS.

Maybe hire another driver and assign them to the truck you've been driving, then you can do quick jobs. Then both trucks are earning some money, while levelling up a couple of drivers (which will earn you more money as they level), and you can focus on paying your loan payments from your quick jobs money. Just a thought.

Not worth selling a truck you already own. You're gonna lose money, so hire another driver, assign to your truck and take quick jobs.

so my next question

How the hell do I assign someone the truck I am driving? I tried but couldn't seem to take the truck away from myself so I just bought a 2nd truck and the hired driver runs that one.

You need to " relocate " the truck to the other driver, the same way you relocate trucks and drivers to other garages.

oh ok
I don't have another garage yet though but I'll try the relocate once.

thanks

yea this is why I get a buffer of money built up before I take out a loan cause you want to have some leftover after buying each thing to cover the loan payments as you do more jobs

start with your own truck, pay it off, take another loan out, buy a garege, pay it off, take another loan out buy drivers trucks, pay them off.

et etc

This is why I avoided loans alltogether.

grab a job were you drop your previous one at. I try not to bob tail far, I usually try and grab a job in the same city or even the same location I just dropped a trailer at. Less bob tailing means burning less fuel for free. I bought my first truck with no loans, and now I have a total of 3 trucks (including mine) and 2 drivers

Just keep working and accepting the highest paying jobs. Eventually the debt will come down. That's whay I did. Your drivers will level up and earn more money. As will you.

Thanks for the help

I figured out how to "relocate" my truck and hired a 2nd driver so now I have 2 trucks with hired drivers and I pick up quick loads. Seems to be slowly working out.

Hang in there! Try to cover the loan payment each day with your truck, as long as your payment isn't more than around 11k, you should be able to do that with 1 run.
Once you start making a bit more money you will be able to pay for things with cash.
